Yay (I think)! Her voice is back to normal this morning :)
The farmer we got these from had quite a few kids. He told my husband they'd be ready the first week of March so that's probably where we will get her buddy. I'm not looking for a registered show goat - my pets are producers of...
I liked the idea of the drain - you could use the stuff they spray truck beds with - that stuff will hold up to about anything. If you wanted to go with just a hardy paint, you can add playground sand to the paint to provide a non-slip surface.
You make a very excellent argument :) Still have to wait for the $$ to get the goat zone complete and would do vet for two but I can bottle feed them outside - think of all of the diaper money I'll save!!
Oh Thank God!
We're off to the feed store today to get her stocked up on pellets, minerals and hay. I have a call in to the recommended vet to discuss her shot needs & make arrangements for that.
We have decided that we are going to get her a buddy but not until I have her off the bottle...
Okay, I may have done something horrible :(
After being her trampoline at 4:15 yesterday morning, I decided that she needed to be in the crate - for my own safety as well as hers since I tend to fling things that wake me up abruptly!
"She hated it" is the world's biggest understatement. Cried...
You guys are all my heroes :) The goat farmer we got her from had a number of kids - Izzy's brother wouldn't let her nurse which is why she went to the bottle and he let her go. I think we might have to take a field trip this week to have a talk with him, plus I can see what others he has for...
My husband named our Pygmy baby (before I even saw her) Isabelle........but it has definitely shortened to Izzy - or Dizzy Izzy. Isabelle only comes out when she's in trouble - kinda like a real kid getting the full name treatment.
As to the horns........Izzy has hers - which feel kinda wiggly like a child's loose tooth? They're sharp too! She seems to take great pleasure in poking me in the belly when I'm putting her diaper on but then again, goats weren't meant to wear diapers :(
I've been told that I am close to a...
Our ordinance is pretty vague - it addresses cows, horses & pigs, but not really goats. Fortunately, our yard is fenced (privacy on 2 sides - chain across the back but nobody lives in the house). Our plan is to use a dog run with part of the fence to give her (and eventually them) a large...
I'm probably going to take a beating - definitely get laughed at and very likely deserve both :( My husband brought home a baby goat a few weeks ago. She was only 3 weeks at the time and was on a bottle so the farner (we'll call him Idiot #2 as I am definitely Idiot #1) let us take her. Per...
