I have always heard that goats will eat anything. Is that true? We have some weedy areas by our trees and fenceline - if we get a goat will it eat the weeds and stuff? I would hope that it knows not to eat anything poisionous. . . .but just in case, is there anything we should look out for...
I meant a body score of 4 out of ten. Sorry, I should have specified that to begin with. Very good webpage though, thanks. :D I have never noticed that the discharge smells bad; it is not clear, more of a brownish color. I don't have either one of those books yet, but I would like to get...
It is an alpaca. I thought maybe she had an infection, because she sometimes has discharge on her tail and back legs, but the vet said she looks fine. If this breeding doesn't take, I might see about flushing her just to be sure.
She is naturally kind of trim, but she is not too thin...
No, I am not at Nationals this weekend. I wonder if I have ever seen you at a show? I have talked to you once, but don't remember ever meeting you. How far away from Columbus are you? I am about 1/2 hour west of. Do you have many alpacas to watch this weekend? They always seem to have...
When the vet examined her, she said the cervix looked normal. I was there at her last birth, as was the vet (for other reasons), and I don't remember any trouble or extra blood or anything that would indicate a problem. I think she was held open that year, because it was a fall baby. That...
Not sure if this is the right spot for this, but any ways. . .
I was wondering what all you lama people do for CDT vaccines. Do you give it every year? Every couple years? What about crias? I have heard several different opinions on when to give it, so I thought I would ask. :) You...
I wouldn't recommend that - atleast on their first lesson. They have such long necks they have a good chance of really getting hurt. I like to walk them a few times first and teach them to give to the halter, then I start working on getting them to stand still.
I don't think it is a retained CL, I saw one other alpaca that had one, and she would coat the boy in green every time she saw one. My girl is still receptive, so I don't think that is it. That is a very informative website though! Thanks for the link.
Just saw the last post - her last...
Aww sorry about your girl. I would love to have an Appy! How do you get that color? :)
My girl is 8, has had four crias previously, the last being three years ago. We have tried breeding her for two years now, with her consistently only holding it for a month. She was kept with other...
One of my females will not hold her pregnancy more than a month. She is usually receptive, takes on the first breeding, but then about a month later she kushes. I had the vet examine her, and she saw no signs of infection, so we are going to try giving her progesterone and see if that helps...
I am expecting one!!!!! Yay!!!!!! :D It will be my first cria, and I can't wait! 'Course, it will probably be a boy, but it will be mine! :)
Hopefully next year I will have two! :D
