What do I do with all this fat?

We just had our pig butchered, but we did all the processing after that. I now have a lot of fat that I know is useable. Other than making lard, which I ddi with the leaf fat, what else should I do with this. I plan to use a little to add to my venison for sausage, but what else?

    Lump on doeling's tail….kind of gross picture….

I have a 3 week old bottle baby doeling that has this very big lump on her tail. It doesn't seem to hurt and it grows a little each day. Any ideas what it is and what I do for it? My herd is CAE/CL free…the buck and moms were all tested in Sept prior to breeding season.

Walnut Hill Kidding Thread…kidding begins! Lost one momma:( And more babies!

Gummi Bear had 2 does. One is loud and spotted and the other has dark ears(which I like too). Java Chip had one doe…not spots, but beautiful anyway! The total is 3 bucklings and 9 doelings. The last three does won't be kidding until April and May

    Bent front legs

Their legs are almost straight now after a week. I think they were just packed inside their mom and needed time to stretch out!

Jelly Bean had twin does with NO SPOTS! I guess 2 spotted parents does not necessarily make spotted kids! They are super cute though!

    Bent front legs

I wish I had taken pictures….my doe that did not make it, had two out of her three kids with bent legs. One of the bucklings walked on the front side of the first joint( not the knee and I don't know what it's called) and the doeling walked on the outside of her front hooves. Both look so...

Walnut Hill Kidding Thread…kidding begins! Lost one momma:( And more babies!

The part I hate about raising animals is seeing one of them suffering and having to put them down! Snowflake was in REALLY bad shape and we had to end her life. Even when they are hurting, and it's the right thing to do, it is still so hard. Her kids are doing much better and will be bottle...

The dark kids are Licorice Spice Drop's twin a doe and a buck. The brown ones are Snowflakes's (not in the above pictures) kids. My 19 year old daughter stepped in a played midwife and did a great job. They had a very rough start….meconium, couldn't figure out the nusring thing, and pretty...

Bordeaux had twins…a buck and a doe. The doe has neat coloring and dark ears (which I love), but the buck has brown spots on the black, which you can't see very well in the photos.

We are the final days of waitng! Udders are getting big, ligaments disappearing. I think that if we ever get any rain, that will be the day!

    Getting a couple heritage pigs….added a picture!

Silly me…..I bought an AGH sow who should be pregnant…..before I have my AGH/Kunes. Her name is Barbi-Q. She is already tearing up my pasture. Hopefully she really is preggers or she will be ribs and bacon soon! Is there a way to tell if she is indeed pregnant? She definitely was bred, but...

    Getting a couple heritage pigs….added a picture!

Just saw pictures of the next group of piggies that are 4/4 Kune Kune and 1/4 AGH. Two of the 6 were spotty! Of course i am getting a boar from that litter and they are black. The thing that I noticed at the breeder's house is how little they root the yard they are in. She has them out on...
