    Bleeding

No more problems today. I noticed a bull thistle that was in the run that had been broken in half right about the height of the kids' bellies so I am thinking that maybe he ran over it and cut himself. Everything looks completely normal today. I will keep an eye on him.

    Bleeding

One of my male kid goats (4 mos old) did a bit of bleeding from the penis. It seems to have stopped now but should I be concerned?

    Animal rescues

In terms of meat eating, the "Paleolithic Diet" is actually the best for people. It includes a lot of meat plus raw vegetables. No grains. This is what people ate for 150,000 years before they discovered agriculture. Meat is actually essential to women due to monthly blood loss which can't be...

    Animal rescues

Supposedly you can sell the roosters to passing Mexicans. They will pay up to ten dollars each for a live bird. I'm not sure if they use them for fighting or not. They may use the bird as a practice for their fighting cocks and then eat them. ALso, Asians particularly like the darker...

How do you fence in your outdoor Pot Belly Pig?

I am looking for some fence/pig talk so this looks like a good thread. I do not yet have any pigs. I have a heritage farm and am looking to incorporate more heritage breeds of animals to help me with the organic vegetable aspect. I grow on two acres out of five total and have a 30 member...

    Fencing question!

I have Tennessee Fainting Goats. They don't challenge the fencing as much as they are afraid of having an attack if they are up on something so they tend to avoid climbing. There is considerable variation in the strength of the fainting tendency from one animal to another though so some may be...

    Goat Tractors

Good advice everyone. Thanks. I really like the fainting goats. They are sort of like miniature goats but are properly proportioned. Only one of mine really "faints" though. The only drawback is they aren't really good for anything except as pets and to eat weeds. I think they could work...

    Goat Tractors

Has anyone tried a "goat tractor"? This would be like a "chicken tractor" except for goats. I was thinking of using some 8 ft fence sections to make a pen 8 ft long by 4 ft wide on wheels that I could place in the walking paths in my vegetable garden and move each day after the goats clean up...
