All lovely sheep and stories!
Funny enough my main ram is a quad(and #4 to boot) breeder sold him to me.. saying he's smallish and likely not amount to much in way of stature... lol a few years later? he is a BIG boy, produces equally good sized boys and is a brilliant personality, showing...
Driving into the bigger town one day, i noticed in a field with the flock of sheep i have seen many a times, carrots.. like a truck load dumped on the ground... I'd say there are likely at least 20-25 sheep in this field if not more.. hey, driving by can only eyeball lol
Trying to sort opinions...
Morning all.
Well, still nothing from her teats, i have tried multiple times to strip them... so i fed him, he's nursing like a champ and she's very responsive to him, the but the whole nursing aspect has gone to heck in a handbasket lol
I will continue to try, but will get some lamb...
My last ewe lambed about 7pm so a wee bit over 2hrs ago. She is fully bagged but we can get nothing from her teats at all.
Wee ram lamb vigorous and willing to nurse but nothing is there, she is not hot in the bag but teats are empty. So i don't suspect mastitis.
I do have lamb gro (synthetic...
Thank you both..
Oldest boy is only about to be 2mths on the 3rd of May, the rest are younger than that.
Any advice, tips on using an elastic method? this is a new one for us.
He is just the cutest, i think it's lovely you took him on. I see no reason why a goat kid would not make a good companion many do have mixed flocks/herds. Heck i know of horses with a sheep "friend".
What would be a range for the aging for doing this? thinking of using the elastic method. One ram i know for a fact i am keeping as he is from a new line and i want to see him grow out...
Some of the other wee ones, unsure on my direction but want to know what i have for timeframe.
Thanks!
Thanks, yes he has a lamb saver on from New Zealand... neat little product, used them last year too, our weather is just to cruddy not too.

Good luck! i have been driving myself nuts checking utters but that was wrong, the other ewe that was less bagged up went first, i think they do this on purpose to just drive us crazy...
My lambing season stated yesterday, with a healthy boy! born to a second time mum, doing awesome.. she's penned off with a straw bedded calf hutch .. last night good temps, even today forecast ed well, however tonight and the next two nights, terrible.. -20C with a -30C windchill...(next two...
I am so sorry, we lost our only ewe lamb of the season last year with combined cold and to prematurity, kept her alive 10 days and then she just passed away rather suddenly.
She was born in April but our weather did a cold snap, the weather is so frustrating sometimes.
I left my ram in but separated my ewes for a few days, he was fine but i really think this depends on so many variables... you know your sheep best and what your comfortable with.
THE biggest problem IME with rams present in the field with ewes frankly, is there what are you doing to her? in...
Gosh they are all soooo cute, good luck! i have two whom i am tapping my foot about... one i am fairly positive is twins, other don't think so.. i figure anywhere between this weekend and end of March, i am forever checking doing an extra hey, how are you at night after closing up birds.
I knew...
