Boy am I glad I found this thread. Just picked up three bottle calves 2 days ago and we are having the same problems with one.

I inherited a donkey. Now what?

*UPDATE* I have corralled her to a smaller area. (That was a feat within itself) Her feet do look fine to me, but I will take a pic so you all can be the judge. She is cautiously eating hay out of my 7yo son and 13 yo daughter's hand. She will not come close when I am around. She is terrified...

I inherited a donkey. Now what?

My wife and I just closed on our new home/farm. In the contract was a donkey. The donkey has been in the pasture I know for three years, had no name, no human contact, and seems all but wild. I have many questions. What do I feed it? Does she need a mineral block? Will it ever be possible to...

    new to rabbits

I concur. By the time you get finished reading that book, you will feel as if you have raised rabbits for 20 years. That book leaves no questions unanswered. It is not a "should" read for any rabbit owner, but a MUST read.

    Meat Rabbit Trial Run

That's what I was wondering. I have never seen anyone post that they let rabbit "rest". I know with chicken it has to rest for days. Now I think I screwed up because I tossed the other ones in the freezer only hours after dispatching.

    Meat Rabbit Trial Run

5 months-ish. I just cut it up into pieces and put in a stew pot on low heat with salt and pepper.

    Meat Rabbit Trial Run

Our property is covered with cottontails. We see them all the time, except when we actually try hunting for them. After a few failed hunting trips, my son was starting to get weary. I had seen a craigslist advertisement for meat rabbits 5 minutes from the house and stored it away for future...
