What to do with wether when getting doe bred. UPDATE.. New Animals!!!

Might need to get ahold of you in the spring and get some chickens if you have any to sell. My place has an old chicken coop...no chickens. And that's just a crime.

    CAE testing

I did. The only person she knew of was Country Vet. They do a lot of large animals and will help w/ goats but nobody there makes any claims of being an expert. I'll keep asking around. There's a Boer breeder in Live Oak that's bound to know someone, from what I hear they're a largish...

    Willow shavings

The tree guy did us a "favor" and dumped all the ground up weeping willow from some limbs he cut into our pasture. The goats and cows were happily munching on them when we got home. The horses won't touch it. I don't see willow on the poisonous plant list but is there anything I should be...

    Toxic Plants

My goats climb the fence to eat the low hanging eucalyptus. At first I was concerned but the only eat a bit an then stop. They're still around. I guess they know whats good, whats not, and how much.

    CAE testing

I was there. That's what got my sudden insurgence of questions sparked. Realized that I was doing a few things wrong and needed to make changes. I could have used an all day CAE management class. Its a pretty in-depth disease. I also need to find a vet near me. I talked to Dr. Flournoy but...

    Drinking the Raw

I have a copper coil wort chiller I was planning to use. Basically, it just hooks up to a water source and runs cold water through a bunch of coils until it comes out the other end. It'll take a pot of boiling beer down to room temp in about 10 minutes max...

    Drinking the Raw

My does should kid in March and I'm practically foaming at the mouth at the prospect of raw goat milk. I've never had it before but I love raw cows milk (kinds spendy though). Anything I should be aware of in particular in terms of handling?

    Natural Approach CA/CL

What are various natural approaches to CA and CL management. I'm not at all excited at the prospect of pulling my kids off their mothers to prevent CA but I'm also not interested in perpetuating a horrible disease. CL is a little easier to get my head around since with some 1:1 attention the...

    Do You Vaccinate?

I just went to a Dairy Goat Association meeting and all three vets there recommend CDT at 4, 6, 8, and 12 weeks of life and then every 6 months thereafter. Yes, its a little early to be effective at 4 weeks (probably), and a bit more often than is (probably) necessary but you will (absolutely)...

    CAE testing

Which CAE test is the better choice? There are a couple of options but I'm wanting the most sensitive (specificity is less important to me at this stage of the game). I have two nubian does I bought a while back as horse friends that are from questionable lineage. I'd like to breed them for...
