    Pet Male Alpaca

Do alpacas need another of their kind to thrive? Thinking of getting one. He is male, intact, 11 years old. I currently do not have another herd animal. Just muscovies, chickens, and geese, a dog, cat, and us (two adults). He's being sold as a pet.

Excessive Wax or ? in Rooster's Ear

On one side the wax was sticking to the tiny feathers and totally blocking the earhole. But it's now a moot issue. I was cleaning his ears every few days and now after checking him two days in a row, his ears are perfectly clean. I will continue to keep an eye on his ears.

Excessive Wax or ? in Rooster's Ear

I don't think most chicken flock owners regularly check all of their birds' ears, unless they're pets. I only checked his ears because he likes to be held sometimes, and the day I was holding him I just decided to look at his ears.

Excessive Wax or ? in Rooster's Ear

I noticed recently that my five year old rooster named Cali, has excessive wax or pus build up that gathers on the opening of his ears. Another question about sheep is do the males urinate on themselves to attract the females like goats?

    sheep and ponds

We already have too many fences around here. We have to keep the chickens from going were they get killed, keep foxes out, keep deer and rabbits out of the gardens. You are right though @Latestarter, the pond shouldn't determine what livestock animals to keep, just figure out how to make it work.

Hello, new member with questions about sheep

That is great information to know about the liver flukes. Since we got the four ducks the water is dirty most of the time, and haven't noticed as many snails. The plan for spring through fall is to irrigate the gardens with the nitrogen rich pond water, then re-fill the ponds with the well...
