    Have a good laugh!

With everything going on in the world right now, I hope you are all ready for a good laugh... I have a little ND named Buttons (picture below). He's healthy for the most part and loves to be petted and loved on. Well I noticed his back side (anus area) looked like it had little gray dots on...

A lot has happened in a short time..

[ There is a misconception here... We did not remove his horns. We purchased him at the tender age of six months but he had been disbudded as an infant by the breeder who shows 4H projects for her children. This goat was chosen as the project goat for her daughter so the horns had to be removed...

A lot has happened in a short time..

Our lovely Mr. Snickers has had a time of it. We adopted him in June. He had his castration just before we bought him. He was six months old at the time. His castration was done by the burdizzo method and apparently one of the testicles didn't get done right... The one side was doing well...

    Nigerian dwarf goats

At this age you really don't need treats. they are very young and will learn what you want them to know just through repetition and reinforcement from you. Later as they get older you will find some like certain things and others don't. I have four and not all of them like the same treats so...

    Nigerian dwarf goats

You may try to cover their eyes with a cloth and offer the bottle. If they are having trouble with the brand of nipple you have. They feel most comfortable eating in an upright position (all four on the floor and head up) rather than in the position used with a human baby. Right now they are...

    Nigerian dwarf goats

Congratulations on your new babies. My advise to you is to handle them when they are young. Get them used to your voice and your smiles (they love smiling faces) If they are to be in the house diaper them and put a onesie on them to keep the diapers in place. Please use whole cows milk...

There's a new kid in town!

Ron and I decided to get another goat. He wasn't sure we should but little Buttons seemed to be left out of a lot of playtime and other things.. Yes he's the youngest but only by 12 days. We contacted Button's breeder to see if she had anything available and she did have one that she would be...

    House cleaning...

Daily chores can be rough on someone that has allergies... Rascal helped dad clean the goat house today so they both had to wear dust masks.. It wasn't that bad but Rascal kept wanting to eat his.... The house is clean of soiled hay and Rascal got extra cookies for being such a big help

    Goats and backyard pools.

LOL yes they don't speak to us for about an hour after each session. Even cookies aren't a draw at that time so we just let them be and enjoy watching them wander around our yard until it's time for them to go to bed. Little Buttons is the only one who doesn't mind the water and will actually...

    Goats and backyard pools.

They are NDs about 30 pounds so not too hard to handle. That's why we are doing it now.. I have videos of all three getting their "wet" on but can't post them here.

    Goats and backyard pools.

Ron and I believe in pool proofing our animals.. All of them. We want everyone safe in our back yard. We go about it slowly and one animal at a time. They are carried into the pool and then turned in the proper direction and are let loose to swim their way out. They aren't always willing...

    Buttons....

All of our goats are wethers. The oldest one (Rascal) is 6 1/2 months old. Shawn Patrick is 4 months old and Buttons is 12 days younger than Shawn Patrick, so he's three and a half months. We filter their water every day because our water is high in calcium. They are given goat pellets with...
