    Freddie won't drink.

I'm so glad he's doing better. He can be lonely, cows are a herd animal. We were just going to get a 2 week old Jersey steer a few years ago, but I felt bad and brought home a little heifer with him so I don't know how they do alone. As for a goose with the calf, I have no idea but it never...

    Jersey calving?

I just remembered another bit of information about when our heifer was close to calving, the farmer we got her from said it happens to all of his cows and heifers too. On her stomach near her belly button, a lump of fluid started forming about a week before calving and got really big the day...

    My cow has a fever

I know this is really late but it was the back 2 that got infected. The farmer we got her from came and gave her antibiotics and we hand milked her as often as we could since her heifer was too small to empty her and it took a few days but she got better and is still doing great and making milk...

    Freddie won't drink.

He is so cute!! He could just be stressed from being brought to your house and away from familiar surroundings. Just keep trying and he should come around and start drinking more. Good Luck!

    Jersey calving?

Here's a picture of Daisy's back end 3 days before she calved. It's hard too see but it gets really swollen and very bouncy even when they barely move the closer they get.

    Jersey calving?

When mine was pregnant she looked like she would have it any day about 3 weeks before she actually calved. She was due August 11th but didn't have her baby until the 16th. Her back end was very swollen and springy, her pins were relaxed and separated, her udder was so full it was hard for her to...

    Our Cows

A Jersey but I never saw him, she was artifially done. I love her color too, I'm glad she doesn't have any white like her mom, it's hard to keep clean.

    Our Cows

Thank you! We're glad too she's a heifer, one steer is more than enough to deal with. She's growing up so fast, I let her out of their pen today so she could start getting used to it and she loved it, she was running all over the place and following me as I was getting ready to milk mom. She's...

    My cow has a fever

last night we noticed our cow that just had her baby 2 days ago wasn't acting right, a vet came out and took her temp. She had a fever and has an infection in her udder. She got 2 shots, one for the fever and one antibiotic, we also milked her dry to clear out the ducts. Does anyone have any...

    Baby is finally here"

Thank you, it was perfect timing. I'm glad we were there because she had trouble pushing the head out so I had to help, it was my first time helping any animal being born and it was amazing. She was so exhausted when it was done she couldn't get up so I brought the baby to her. It was funny, she...

To cut or not to cut bull calves and when?

He gets corrected when he gets rough and stops but I can tell he still wants to, I never turn my back on him and none of my kids are allowed to be in his stall anymore.
