Thanks everyone. We may pass. We have 6 pregnant does.

We don't know her. She's moving to our area. We have goats and a turkey in that area. We are in the process of fencing off another section so we could separate them if we need too.

There is a lady who is in the process of moving, has 6 sheep that she needs to board for a month or two until she gets their new pen ready. How much is fair to charge her to board on our farm? Our animals pretty much free graze/range and they get some feed as a treat at night.

So if you butcher your own cattle, how do you "age" the meat? I've learned with chickens to leave them in fridge for several days before freezing or in salt water brine for a few days before cooking. But how do you age beef at home?

We haven't tested for anything. Owner says they are healthy and spoiled.

We didn't get them for milk supply, as I'm the only one who will drink fresh cow or goat milk. Hubby just refuses and the teens, no thank you! We got them for clearing property. But I would love to be able to get enough milk to start making cheese and soap. All the females are 1-2 years old...

I've been drooling over the goat forum and YouTube videos of goats for 5-6 years now. Last weekend I finally got them! I wanted 3-4 Nigerian Dwarfs, we ended up with 8! Two wethers, a baby they cut because of genealogy something or other, I think he's an inbreed or something and they didn't...

It's a gas stove but electric fridge. I believe they are both Westinghouse, I'll have to look.

Yes we have considered that. We are forgoing central heat and air right now, we will have ventless ac/heaters in each room at first and a wood burning stove in the living room. After we get house completely finished we will save up and install the central air & heat. Only 1 of our 4 kids lives...
