Agree with @farmerjan -- esp if it's a slightly built 5 month old.

My Saanen are much better tempered...quieter, more compliant to handle in an overall sense.

The wild blackberries are in heavy bloom here but, need rain for decent berries. There's a good batch along a ditch bank. Haven't checked yet to see if there's water that far up beyond the usual runoff. Hoping so. Same with elderberries -- no rain, no berries and they should be blooming...

They sometimes have some light discharge for a few days. If she eating, drinking, moving about normally, probably all good. Take temp for ease of mind.

Also....if her bag & teats are tight, she might be a little sore. Calf nursing should remedy that but, consider getting calf on more than just one teat. I have to watch this with my goats, esp if a single kid.

I'd consider a "house sitter" .... Even one who doesn't stay 24/7. Just in & out, lights off & on, etc.

A face to face is looked forward to with us, too. Just a nice hug. WE get 2X a year :highfive:
