    Introducing a LGD

I don't know what breed but I do lean towards Pyrenees because we live in a cold climate and they are popular in this area. Our sheep have never been with one before. We have 3 ewes. They have free run on our 4 acres. I would prefer already trained.

    Introducing a LGD

Considering a LGD and wondering what to look for in choosing one and how to introduce it to the flock?

    Finnsheep and Shetland Sheep

Their horns look good. I doesn't seem like they will have the danger of their horns growing into their faces but they are still young, chances are pretty good they'll be okay though. Even if one horn does start turning you could have it cut, which is okay to do. Horns are made of the same stuff...

    Finnsheep and Shetland Sheep

I see the ones you are referring to. The sheep on those 3 sites are just normal Shetland sheep but in comparison to other sheep breeds they are miniature sheep which is why they must be calling them that. I have 3 sheep for that same purpose you mentioned Sue K. I started out looking for small...

    Pond Solution

It is a run off pond. It sits in the center of the property and all the hills drain into it. It has trees around it and the dead leaves fall into the pond. It get some sun in the middle of it. Do you know of any easy way to calculate the depth? We're looking at aquashade right now to help...

    Pond Solution

Not sure if this is the right area for this post but here it goes... On our property we have a farm pond that is covered in green algae and is a mosquito magnet. We're trying to find ways that are environmentally friendly to get rid of it and reduce our mosquito problem. I looked into aerator...

    New to sheep

Yes the horned one has 4 and is more deer like than the other two. I don't have a photo of the sire. But I seen the sire to the smallest polled one. The breeder they came from was from Shipshewana, Indiana. I don't know who though...

    New to sheep

I hadn't either. I was reading about that being an American Jacob trait. They are being bred to be polled. I did notice the few spots. I suppose that is how they are creating the"polled Jacobs" crossing them with something. Any ideas what it might be?

    New to sheep

I think they are Jacobs only. 2 were born polled. Flighty and curious fits them exactly! Haha they are already starting to lose their fear of me enough so that they will come up to me but if I move they take flight. I do bribe a little. ;) They are really loving the amount of grass here. It is...

Thanks, roving jacobs. I was wondering if there was some way to register them or their offspring. I do use facebook, I'll look into that.

    New to sheep

Found 3 unregistered jacob ewes on craigslist. Two of them are 1 year old and one is 4 months old. Went to see them and they seem to be in good condition and had good dispositions. The lady is delivering them to me on Monday at no charge and has their vaccination information. They were just...

    New to sheep

My Aunt's are already gone, they went fast and there weren't many. I found out too late, they were already promised out and I now live 5 hours away from her also so transportation would have been difficult. Do you have any suggestions for resources to see what is available in my area? Just by...
