Ridgetop - our place and how we muddle along

P4 (Lewis daughter) had twin ewes this am around 9 am. I was just about to get into the shower to get ready for bridge when DH came in and said we had lambs in the pasture. I ran down and cleaned out the 5' x 10' jug and divided it in half. Moved P4 and her twins into it. Played bridge...

    Is our rescue donkey pregnant??

Hard distended udder on one side, clear liquid, might be mastitis. Does she have a temperature?

    Leonidas' Story

Didn't steal baby or drive away mama thinking she was hurting lamb. Good behavior for young dog with no training.

I am so sorry about Bruno. We had the same experience just before we got Rika. Our male Weimaraner had been fine with the sheep for several years. All of a sudden, we began getting more attacks on the sheep. Some were coyotes, but some were daylight attacks. We brought Rika home and had 2...

Checked all lambs this am and they are bouncy and lively. Wonder who will lamb today. The more that lamb now, the fewer to worry about in the trailer. Will check with Bob May about how to haul them - separate the lambs and ewes for 24 hours? - keep with mamas and possibly get trampled? Might...

A friend moved to the California coastal area 20 years ago and had massive amounts of poison oak EVERYWHERE! She turned her goats (about 4 - 4-H) loose with the horses and the goats ate every scrap of poison oak. The neighbors invited her to do the same on their fenced property and like magic...

Just ran down and checked BL12. No second lamb and the first one was small. :( She still looked big. She was standing up and nursing her lamb, and hadn't passed the afterbirth. Something made me go into the barn to take a closer look. Almost missed it but there was a nose showing! She had...

BL12 has one ewe lamb out of Lewis. :love He was able to settle at least one ewe. I will keep this ewe lamb. Hoping BL12 will have a second lamb but not so far. She is in the barn. Will check again before I shower and go to bed.

Practice driving the truck and trailer. Go to a Walmart parking lot (or any big shopping center lot) and practice driving and turning. To practice backing up the trailer, use street cones and back between them. The longer the trailer the easier it will be to back up. LOL I learned to back...

Two more ewes lambing today. While the one was lambing I went down and cleaned 2 jugs. 8189 had had split twins. DGD1 Elizabeth went down and picked up the twins and moved them, followed by their mother, in the barn jug. We moved the extra ewe (that wanted to steal 8219's twins and followed...

Before we bought our 16' stock, we had a little 2 horse Miley. We had to transport animals and milking, grooming, etc. equipment. DH made a platform in the trailer so we could load feed and equipment on top and the animals on the bottom. Because it was a horse trailer, there was no...
