I know they aren't pure nubian. But they aren't half nub and half pygmy either. Our kinder buck (half nub x half pygmy) got in with our nubian does. Thus these babies are either 3/4 nub x 1/4 pygmy or they are 1/2 nub x 1/2 pygmy. I think it is the kinder buck who got them prego :(
Our first two Nubian does gave birth right before the last snow in the midwest. We had our pygmy buck out with them all fall. We were trying for Kinders. Unfortunately, I don't think he is the dad of any of them. Our kinder buck got loose twice and bust into the field with the does. From...
He is 2 yo. No offspring on ground yet, but he did manage to get my Nubian does pregnant. He has PGCH titles (not his, his ancesters) from Whirlwind and Country Farms in his blood line. He is horned, but has never been aggressive. Just changed my mind on what direction I want to go with my...
Thanks for showing that to me. That is what I was told but hadn't seen it. Even so, the fair board was siding with the state vet. I didn't hear anything this morning from the show barn, but I saw the show was going on without any goats with tags in the ears. ;)
So with that being the "law"...
The state vet showed up to the fair yesterday 30 mins before the 4H show. She informed us that since she couldn't see the tatoos in our does ears they HAD to be scrappies tagged or they couldn't show. Our does are nubians and have black skin on their ears. Two of them I got from Roll Farms...
I went over to the open goat show side of the barns and saw the same thing. I asked them what they had put in and they said it was the electrolytes with vitamin B. Thanks!
turns water yellow/green?
And no it isn't urine in the water ;)
We were at the fair and noticed the pens who had the biggest goats had all their water tinted this color. Their boer market wethers look like tanks. Their nubian dairy market wethers look to be the same size as most of the...
He livened up enough that he was making his way around in the bathtub, crapping all over. So I moved him out with the chickens as the turkeys tried to kill him when I first pulled him from the water. I chased the roosters out for the night. I don't need them messing with him either. I penned...
I posted on BYC and got no response. Since an emergency success is based on time, I am posting here too.
I found a turkey in the pool. It is one of the domestic white breasted ones we got for 4H. It was still alive when I found it, but barely. It was very pale, almost blue with agonal...
Our goat pens are similar to Sawfish's first picture. Though s/he did a much better job then we did. We attempted the second shelter. We do NOT have enough wind block for it. The wind twisted it in a circle within a couple of days and that was with huge anchors holding it down. The wind...
We are getting ready to fence in a new pasture area. We have some very large mature trees in the one corner of the pasture. I would really love them to be fenced in as it is amazing shade for those hot days. I am worried, however, that the goats will eat the bark eventually killing the trees...
Not an expert here either, but I answered with my limited experiences.
-What do they eat? Hay? Grains? How much of each?
I have Pygmies and Nubians. I know the size difference will require difference in amount of feed. But it just seems to me that my Nubs require so MUCH more feed then the...
We have people around here always asking for land to hunt coyote. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone to come trap or kill your trouble makers. If it has been an ongoing problem, you probably have a few that are picking off your herd. Some coyote has set up a den near by and raised her...
