    Coffee anyone ?

Horse nettle was at the other ranch. By far the worst weed for me there was spear grass. It rarely bothered the sheep but was horrible for the dogs. From mid May to late July I spent lots of time grooming and cleaning up the inevitable wounds. I also spent time cleaning tools and equipment to...

I wonder if pouring cleaning vinegar on the stumps would help. I get to experiment with that tomorrow. I’ve also contemplated rock salt, motor oil, and dynamite. I actually cleaned a lot of horse nettle out of a pasture using a mixture of vegetable oil, vinegar and salt- salad dressing. Wonder...

We got as close to having a frost as we could. Forecasts said 38-42 for lows but I’ve got the patchies around the yard. I covered my tomatoes thank goodness. Peaches are small and bullet hard, hopefully they didn’t get nipped. :fl

Morning all. 38 for a low tonight yikes! I keep putting my hoodies up only to get them out again. Got rain yesterday, good soaking but haven’t heard how much. Clear this morning. I spent yesterday reorganizing my closet and grumbling mostly to myself about weight gain. The year off my knees...

They were sold at a lot of retail stores in the 50’s and 60’s. One problem was people kept getting salmonella from handling them. And damn if I didn’t from handing this one. Or it could have been from cleaning nest boxes. I thought I was careful enough but Uncle Sal paid me a brief visit.

Off he went. I know red ears can be real nuisances but I turned him loose anyway thinking his chances are still slim. I’m surprised the chickens did eat him.

I’ve rarely processed roos. When I did I just went the Amish route and let the birds steep in the hot water longer and peel skin and feathers off together. Skinless birds beg for bacon or leaner salt pork.

Bustelo coffee for me this morning. No word on FIL’s health. Cloudy and showery, a day to be grateful and get things done.

Windy and 71 with showers and possible thunderstorms tonight. Hubbs is traveling (work) and may detour to see his dad who is in poor health. I begin the informal sheep worming today and tomorrow pound posts into rain softened ground for a ram pen. No joy on finding a ram that meets the...

One thing about Komondor cords they can be tough to cut. I needed trauma shears to get through some on my dog. I can imagine a predator having a tough time biting through those.
