    sod or seed in pen

Yep, it would be a waste of money, they’ll kill it. If you have them confined in a smallish area, they will just trample it to death and eat the rest or vice versa. If you want them to be on green pasture you have to have a good area of pasture, divide it into sections and rotate the goats...

    Well, let the games begin...

I think horses have a special fear of pigs because of wild boars - seems genetic, like donkeys hating dogs. It seems your dog loving, pig hating horse just has better sense than the other one... He knows those cute little ones will be big and dangerous one day and he wants to get rid of them...

Rabbit enclosure is infested with big rats

Trouble is a) you might take out more than one predator and b) a single predator eats more mice and rats than you can possibly catch yourself. After the predator dies, the varmint population will recover quickly, but the hole the lost predator left in the system will take longer to refill. In...

Can 68in electric netting stop a mountain lion?

I just had a long call with a mountain lion expert. Check out their website: Living with Lions. I think a mountain lion could jump that fence easily. Also electric fencing in the dry season isn’t so simple, since the ground won’t close the current. You’d have to have the type that has the return...

    Nice looking easy fence?

The hog panels are a splendid idea - they seem just right! We‘ll get a few nice wood posts and some tposts in between and that should work nicely... Thanks so much everyone!

    Nice looking easy fence?

Thank you for the ideas! Anything electric is a bit tricky here because it gets so dry over the summer the ground will not act as a return for months. I have some of the premier temporary electric netting and it’s very practical, but I am hoping for something long term thats a bit prettier. My...

    Nice looking easy fence?

Is there possibly a nice looking, easy to set up fence that would keep sheep and chickens in? We just need some fencing to keep them away from the house and cottage. We are dreaming of something we could put up ourselves. Is there any woven wire fencing that doesn’t need stretching with heavy...

Rabbit enclosure is infested with big rats

Please don’t poison the rats - any predator picking up a poisoned rat will get poisoned, too. You can trap them. Going forward, if it was me, I would build a rat proof enclosure for the rabbits. You can still have an outdoor area, just don’t feed them there. Since rabbits should mostly eat hay...

Would you buy these rabbits at this price??

Fantastic! They look adorable! How is their temperament? I have only had pet rabbits and I can no better imagine breeding rabbits for eating than I can doing that with dogs, but better heat tolerance is very useful for a pet rabbit as well...

    One less “herd animal” today

Oufff. She needed to be a California bee... I just looked at our Shiro plum tree in full bloom and wondered if there are enough bees out yet for us to get a good crop... I just see a few here and there.
