I just got a 7 week old English lop bunny a few days ago. I know most people feed alfalfa hay to young rabbits but I was wondering if you can feed Timothy hay to a 7 week old baby? What is the earliest you can feed them hay?

Most people feed grass hay (timothy, coastal, orchard, etc) rather than alfalfa. Alfalfa has a lot of protein in it; though a lot of pellets are alfalfa based, there are other ingredients in the pellets that bring the total protein count down to more reasonable levels. For most people, the basic diet for a young rabbit is grass hay, pellets, and water.

Thank you! I bought a bag of Timothy hay but didn't know if he was old enough for it.

Thank you. I added some to his pen and he went to town on it.... Glad he likes it.
