Hello my name is Kim i'm new to having farm animals. I recently got two lambs that are now about 7 months old. Its winter here and they've been doing great except recently one is losing weight and im not sure why. She doesnt have diarrhea. She eats, drinks and acts normal. She doesnt eat as much as the other but she eats plenty from what i can tell. Does anyone have any helpful info.? they were drenched for the first time end of Nov.

Welcome to BYH! Glad to have you here :frow Hopefully others will chime in, but if she were my sheep I would collect fresh poo samples and take them in to the vet for a fecal analysis (our local dog and cat vet will also do fecal egg counts for farm animals). Sounds like she may need to be drenched for worms again, but it's a good idea to know for sure which worms you're fighting first.

Greetings and welcome to BYH. Congrats on your new sheep. We actually have a pretty decent group of active Sheeple here. I'll tag a few of them for you and hope they can add some thoughts/ideas for you. But I must admit I think they'll need a little more information before they can really make an accurate educated guess. Like what breed, what exactly are you feeding them and how much, how often, have you taken the lamb's temperature? Where are you located? You say winter but that could mean sub zero or 80 degrees depending on where you are. You really should put at least a general location in your profile as that's very important when asking for advice. Are the lambs on pasture/dry lot/barn kept? Have they been or are they kept together with any other livestock? Anyway, I guess you've got the idea.

Please browse around the various threads as there's a wealth of info and shared experience there. Make yourself at home and post when you feel the call. If you'd be willing to share some pics of your lambs, we'll all appreciate it as most of us are picture addicts. Glad you joined us and hope it's not a major issue with your lamb!

Welcome from Ohio, and congrats on your lambs! I agree with @mysunwolf on getting a fecal test on your lamb (or both). Do you know what they were drenched with, and at what dosage? If they have parasites, they might be resistant to some of the dewormers, or the dosage might have been off, or they might have parasites that need a different chemical (coccidia are treated with something different than barberpole, for instance). Or she might have something entirely different going on.

Do you know their vaccination history? Where did you get them from, and is the former owner available to answer questions? What are you feeding them? Do you have loose minerals available for them (specifically for sheep)? Sorry for all the questions, but the more we know the more we might be able to help. We'd love to see some pictures of them, too!
