 Since moving to our new home, our animals are more visible to everyday traffic, It is to funny watching people stop (happens daily) along the roadside looking. (we just hope not looking to steal) Were not sure if it's the Nubians, for were the only ones around this area to have them, or are they looking at our great prymees, or we do have a young pony and a minuture paint filly out there. We are going to post a sign for the on lookers, sign will say :Welcome to look, Please don't stand,.climb or lean on fence, cause you might fall in, and they might eat you, and that would make them sick." :gig I don't mind people looking, and would gladly let some take a closer look or talk with me about them, but you never know what people are up too. I will submit pics later.

i had a sweet old man (maybe 80's) stop by the other day to tell me he saw my goats outside the fence... I know, I let them out for a little while to free range.
Then he continues to tell me how much he loves seeing my pretty goats when he and his wife drive by....

I don't generally like it when people stop by uninvited, but it was nice to meet him :)

Not a goat story, but a story of how your animals affect people. Peachick's story brought it to mind.

When Jake was in his younger days, he could fly. Loved to run. My MIL was still alive and Jake had the run of both properties. There was an older man that came by with his car and would slow and rev the engine. This was like a cue to bring Jake running. He would bark at the older gentleman, he would say something, and Jake would wag his tail and watch the older gentleman pull away. This happen many times until one day I was near the side he drove by. He didn't see me standing there as he gave his cue. But here comes Jake. He barked and I heard the gentleman say, "Boy pal you really flew today.". Then he notice me. He smiled and apologized. He stated he had a dog just like Jake and he love to watch him run. Ran so fast it was like his feet were not even hitting the ground. Like flying. I said he wasn't doing any harm. I'm glad Jake could give him a smile. And he left.

He came around for over a year until my MIL passed and we had the sell the property. Jake couldn't take that flight any more. The older gentleman came around several times and when I was out once I was able to let him see Jake again.

I understand your caution, which I did at first to this very nice gentleman, but animals do amazing things. And give happy memories and new awareness to some. :)

We have been on both sides of this equation. From coming home to find kids chasing animals while parents stood and watched to some older retired farm folk who come by to visit the animals they can no longer have. Love to hear their stories of farm life decades before I was born. Learned a great deal by taking the time to listen.

That happened to me when we moved our goats to the big pasture next to the road. All the cars would slow down and gawk! I don't understand why? Haven't they ever seen a goat before? People don't slow down to look at the horses?

Yes they do. Here they do anyway. And I'm one of them! In today's day and age, there is a need for every individual to gain solitude. And that's what observing an animal is. :)

We are open to the road on almost 3 sides and people LOVE to stop and see the goats. There is an assisted living facility that brings their day program people by. Grandparents in the development drive the kids by. People baaah at them out the windows. Every time I have a yard sale I have more people stopping to tell me how much they like the goats vs actually buying anything.

We had this happen when we moved to our new place. Made us very nervous. But its been a year and only on occasion do people stop. Have alot of waves when we are down there with them. Only had one issue. The neighbor kids came down and were feeding them stuff. But now they have goats(because of ours lol) and we never see them anymore. I dont mind folks stopping. Just worries me when im not there.
