Hi! My name is Dixie, married with 3 adult kids, 8 grandkids and 7, soon to be 9 great grandkids. (Wow, that makes us sound old!!).

We live on two acres, near the border of Idaho, along with 10 hens, 3 roosters, two cats, and a dog... and two weeks ago added 4 Nannies and 2 sets of twin babies, all girls.

I'm new to goat tending and will need lots of advice. I've been reading lots of posts here, because I've googled questions concerning goats...and have landed here many times. Happy to be here!

Welcome from Ohio, and congrats on your new goats! Will you be milking them? And we'd love pictures if you have any to share.

Thanks! Not sure if I want to milk them. Don't even know how! I'm a city girl moved to the country. Mostly got them so I can breed and sell, but they are so dang cute I don't know about that either!

I'll post pics if I ever figure out how to get it off my phone.

Yah, jumped right in. My herd is mostly Boer, one Alpine/Saanen, one traditional, and the rest are Boer, so I'm told. Not so sure because 2 of the adults are white. Two of the babies are mostly Carmel colored and the other two are white with light brown Boer"ish" markings. I'll try to post some pictures soon. It's snowing here, AGAIN.

PS long term plans are to breed/sell. Might increase my herd some, after I think I know what I'm doing!

If you are on your phone, when ya are in the reply box there is a tool bar just above the box. Ya will see a "Face" icon.. which is some emojis ya can insert into your reply :)....it will open a box of them below the reply box to choose from. Also below the reply box there is a button that is in the middle that says upload a file...touch that button and a box will open asking which file it is to come from....the last one is documents...touch that and you can navigate in your phone to images in different files from the phone...make your selection and it will automatically upload that file...if ya make a mistake there is a cancel button to stop the upload or after it uploads ga can delete it. Once it has uploaded there will be a couple of buttons to choose from....I always use the thumbnail option and it will insert the pic whereever the cursor is in your reply..... IMAG2131.jpg ...this is a pic of our herd. The black one is a FB pygmy 10yo...and the Boys are both pygmy/boer crosses...they have the same papa, but different moms. One is 66% boer, white, and the tan one is 66% pygmy...both are 2yo and wethered.

Greetings and welcome to BYH from another in NE Texas. Glad you joined us and congrats on your new goats! Continue to browse around and you'll pick up all kinds of useful info as well as get to "know" some of the great goat folks on the site. Please put your location or at least a general location in your profile. I know down the road when you ask a question I won't remember you're in Utah near the Idaho border. When you ask for help or need answers, one of the first thing folks need to know is what part of the country you're in. What works here in hot/humid Texas might not be such a good idea up where you're at. Make yourself at home! By all means feel free to post questions and pictures are always welcome! :D
