Oh thank goodness, that is too bad though because I have the cutest picture of them layer out on our bench. Just made themselves at home in the most comfortable spot

Good job! :thumbsup I'm glad it is working well so far. I think once the kids are 2-3 weeks old you can start separating them from their mama all night too.

@Goatgirl47 had suggested they do it with her cows, so do cows nurse longer and not take little sips like goats or is it just because they have to? I do not need mom anymore upset with me haha she is getting good at anticipating when I am going after her kids. The only way they will come close to me is if I am holding on to mom

And calves do nurse a bit differently than goats. :) Once they get to be few weeks old they seem to only nurse a few times per day and for a longer period of time. We actually separate our calves from their mamas when they are 2-3 months old. They are in a separate pasture, but can see their mamas and get to nurse twice a day. But with your goats I'd let them nurse more like 4-5 times each day, or more if need be.

Just though this method would work because when I bottle-fed one of my goats last summer and she got to be about 2 weeks old I only fed her 3 times per day. As oppose to when they are dam-fed they nurse all day long. :)

Had to detox from tech for a while, a lot of the posts I was reading in the "New posts" were downright mean to some of the newbies and it makes sad to be online....

But anyway....

I bottle fed the twin does for about a week before all my human kids came down with a stomach bug then I put them out again. A long story short their mom was thrilled to have them back and they were much less skittish around me. So, yes, pulling kids from a skittish doe even for a Short time, is the way to go!

I have seen some pretty mean posts on other websites, but not on this one (yet) thankfully.

I am glad that the kids are getting tamer!

I hope you were saying that the mean posts were on the tech sites and that's what you're here detoxing from. We just had a BYC hosting period while their site was re-done and it got a bit hectic in here for a week or so but I didn't see anything really "mean"... Anyway, glad your kids are more friendly toward you and hope all are now over the sickness.
