GA is too far. :hide
Depends on how FAR into GA, right? You only have to go through 1 state. That is much less than the Hidden Palms folks went ;) They needed 525 miles just to get to Charlotte. Only 150 miles from Charlotte to Augusta. Of course I have NO idea where you live in NC nor where these goat shows would be in GA.

:epThose Hidden Palms people must be doing something RIGHT:

If I had the money for a huge, climate controlled trailer, a truck large enough to pull it, and TIME, I wouldn't have a problem

In a few years I am hoping to expand my "show circle" but I've already hit three shows this year with a few more to go.
Even though the goats don't mind it, the stress can certainly take a toll on them. Right now I think I'm good where I'm at.
With the LGD's we are also unable to have a farm sitter out. So someone (SBC) needs to be here to handle the rest of the farm.

I have been very blessed.
I bought my first registered Nigerian doe (Ruth) in late 2013. She gave me my first show potential doelings in 2016 (she gave a single buckling in 2015) Both now have their dry legs and her daughter from this year was just Reserve Grand Champion Jr doe. I don't think she's to far behind my other girls.

I'll start going farther and farther when I have twenty does to bring.

Yes, they had some beautiful goats!

LOL I never get to go, but my little DD loves it. She has her own goats and is doing well with them.
But it is - or can be expensive.
Ring fees, sometimes exhibitor fees, sometimes additional pen fees, travel, food, gas... and yes, even though most of the goats jump up and are ready to go it still can cause stress like any animal.
So far so good.

BUT the biggy- my goodness... it is a lot of work clipping and prepping the goats. Fun, but really exhausting!

NC State Fair is Oct ... we will go to that one. Meanwhile we are prepping goats for breeding and have several due in Aug.

A lot of showing is stress on the animals and a lot of work for the humans

We are very fortunate in the fact that the NCDGBA show is one of the biggest/ best club shows in the country
The NC State Fair is one of the biggest/best shows period behind the National show

We get the best judges because all of them have the ambition of judging a National show and to do that you have to have a certain number of large shows on your resume
We have judges scheduled 3 years in advance

i hope the Sandhills show can thrive we will keep that on our schedule

Mtn State Fair is a haul for us
Might try VA State Fair this year

I haven't checked out Hidden Palms yet I need to

@Goat Whisperer you said Ruthie gave you your first show potential Doe in 2016
I think she has Show potential herself
She caught my eye as your avatar when you joined BYH
I commented that she was a nice looking doe when you joined
I know she freaks out if you take her somewhere but you need to get her with the program
