OK so I'm working on a spreadsheet for raising the pigs. I've seen many times 6 lbs per pig per day of feed. This doesn't seem right to me, unless it's an AVERAGE for 6 months, assuming it's lower as they grow and higher than 6 as they're about to meet their maker. Or is this a standard diet of 6 lbs per day they're whole life?

I am able to provide "pasture" area to my AGHs when raising. They root and eat!! I also have a plentiful outlet for close dated foods -- mostly veggies, breads, fruits, etc. I dump it in and they love it. At the moment, no pigs here. But if more in future, I'd go with the same as the meat was great, personality delightful, great moms & a much smaller size -- all great for ME. I don't want a loner, so two of these are like one large type. They do take longer to mature but that's ok. I bought very little commercial feed but, some near end. Oh, no taint with boars, so did not worry about castration. Of course, if ou raise them you the worry due to inbreeding, etc.

Well he will be having them on an acre or so (for 2 hogs at first) and he's looking into surplus food sources from nearby farmers or outlets.
