I got a pair of rescue pygmy goats yesterday for pets and brush clearance. I was told they were between 6 and 8 months old. No history other then that. The male was disbudded and has a small, ping pong sized scrotum that feels empty. However he has a beard and he is acting like a buck, mounting the female, spraying himself with urine and walking around with an erection. Today I noticed he has a distinct smell. Is it likely he is a cryptorchid? I really don't want a buck and had planned on castrating him if he was. However the cost of removing a retained testicle may not be feasible. So do wethers ever smell stinky?

No. Wethers do not stink. I have two wethers in with my buck. My buck is the only one who stinks and sprays himself. Can you post a picture of him?
