How will I know when my sow is with child?
My boar is extremely aggressive towards them both and I want to separate him.
We got him at 2mos and the girls at 4mos so basically raised together.

I think that would be with "children" (vice child) since they can have anywhere from 6-16... :ep My guess would be if they stop having heat cycles, they're probably bred. I'll tag a couple of folks who might be better able to give you an answer. @misfitmorgan @Farmer Connie @Mini Horses @mysunwolf and I know there are others...

You really aren't going to want to keep an aggressive animal around. We started with three hogs, two of which were not friendly. We had to always fed the pigs in groups of two and you never went in the pen alone. The only reason we kept these hogs around because of the investment we made as they were a specialty breed.

How old are your girls, for standard breeds, females they say they are able to breed at 6-9m of age, boars at 4m. For knowing if shes bred, your sow won't go back into heat(i believe the cycle is 21 days). From what I noticed by one month gestation you will notice your pig will start putting on weight around the belly. If I am being completely honest its very minimal but if you know your pigs inside and out you will notice this change. I would say you know for sure around 2.5m for sure if she is pregnant. And considering he is aggressive it should be because he is frustarted that he cant do the deed as they are already covered. I had noticed that the boar got sassy with me after my gilt was bred. I hope this helps, I am by no means an expert. I had my first litter born two days ago so there is still mounds of information to learn.

In the future you should always have separate pens for fertile opposite sex. They heat every 21 days. You will need to mark a calendar when you spot her ovulation. They seem to not have the desire to eat and become submissive.
My boar is extremely aggressive towards them both and I want to separate him.
He is going to want to mate 24-7 just like a rooster does. His clock will not shut off but the gilts will shut down. He will become frustrated and aggravated because he is not getting his way. Boars really only need to be exposed to Gilts/Sows as A PLANNED pregnancy. Then you will mark your chart for 3 months-3 weeks-3 days they are going to be born.. the 3 3 3 rule.
We got him at 2mos and the girls at 4mos so basically raised together.
You are not stating the gilts ages. Or the Boar. Pigs become fertile and mature at 6 months or sometimes earlier.
If indeed she/they are carrying, you will see her milk sacks begin to grow.

Tell me/us:
  1. Ages.
  2. The Breeds.
  3. Photos are worth a thousand words.
