Hello! My name is Madison and obviously I am new to this site but I am hoping to learn anything and everything about caring for herding animals! This is my little family. We just purchased 18 acres of land in SC and are slowly but surely going to grow into it!

We want to start with some miniature goats! We have about 2.5 acres of cleared land that we are going to fence and then we will start looking into starting our herd. I've worked with goats very very little so I am hoping to pick up a lot of advice on care, feed, shelter, and breeding/milking. Depending on how successful we are with goats, I'd love to introduce horses, donkeys and maybe even raise a sheep each year for meat? I have all these ideas in my head but no experience! :hit

Greetings and welcome to BYH Madison, from NE TX! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :oldwill never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

I love to see people realize their dreams! You are in the right place, this is an awesome forum full of the nicest people you will ever meet on the internet. We have sheep, chickens, horses, Muscovy ducks and 2 feeder pigs. We also raise a big garden. So happy to have you here!

Hi Thumper, and family! :welcome

I see on your profile that you have dairy goats and rabbits. Plenty of people here with those animals, though if you have been lurking you already know that. If you put your general location in your profile (there is a spot under "personal details") people can target responses to geographically related questions (like weather) more accurately.

Enjoy your time here with the herd.

Welcome @shikauhr to the forum from Texas. I love Labs! We just lost our half black Lab/Great Dane, he was the best dog ever. I know you love your furbabies! They are pretty dogs!
