Hello,

I have noticed threads about how often you are supposed to worm cattle with Ivermectin pour on, but none that address how frequently you CAN administer.

I have a 6 month old Red Baldy Heifer and steer. The heifer has a heavy worm load. I attempted to worm her after dark and unintentionally poured too much on her. possibly enough for a 2000# cow. I hosed her off and we had a decent rain that night. She is still wormy and needs to be treated as soon as possible. My question is how soon can i re-administer the Ivermectin?

Additionally, what are the side effects of overdosing Ivermectin pour on?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Harm to your pocketbook is all:):)
ivomec has a huge margin of safety for overdose.
Here in east Tennessee we worked cattle twice a year.
Used Cydectin pour on for fall as rain less likely, and Valbazen in spring. Always dosed both about 20% heavier as resistance is created faster by underdoseing.

I also used Synergized pyrethrin Delice which is mineral oil based for fly control every three to four weeks. Bull needed it at 2 weeks, but cows and calves ok at 3 to 4. Used a gallon pump sprayer and got them as they crowded around feed trough. Also used fly control ear tags and face rub over mineral feeder. HATE flies and pink eye!! Flies gone by November, but back in March.

And, forgot to say all calves got wormed as we worked momma and again at 7 months when we weaned IF we kept calf. Our calves were sent to market straight from cow side, so only replacements we kept got rewormed at weaning.

It really matters where you are located. What works here in eastern Tennessee might not work at all in south Texas or North Dakota!

Cleveland Texas, for all intents and purposes, we'll say Houston. With the current Hurricane Season im not sure ill get a good opportunity to do the Ivermectin Pour on. What are your toughs on Panacur. The worms we have are Strongyle.

@greybeard is right there in your neck of the woods (so to speak... in his case more literal) and might offer recommendations... Welcome once again!
