We are on sand, pure, white sugar sand. It's like a beach without the ocean. We have hauled pine shavings from a nearby horse event center by the dump trailer load. It did a lot to help in the garden.

Then we found a power line contractor crew in our area and asked for the wood ships. They wound up parking their trucks here at night to keep them safe from vandals and brought us 110 loads of wood chips that we have spread over the property in many places. They are great for holding down the dust from the fine sand when it is dry.

We covered the barn area where the horses are and put them in the barn. We have a 31 year old mare with COPD and the dust makes her heave for breath and cough, so the wood chips have really helped. This summer, we scooped up the rotted chips, mixed with rotted hay and manure, and spread on the garden. In the garden, we are using the Back to Eden method, layering with cardboard, manure and wood chips.

With all the rain we are having, the mushroom bloom is popping up everywhere, further helping to break down the wood chips.

I offer the horses and sheep Azomite, a rock dust from an ancient lava flow in Utah. The sheep especially like it and lick it up. I also put it in the garden and have spread it in a couple of pastures.

I agree that good soil equals good food. do you raise a garden? If you do, you might want to join www.theeasygarden.com sister site to BYH.

More alt-ag!!!!
I'm pretty familiar with most of the '100% all natural/certified organic/non-gmo/gluten free/free range/Mother Gaia/plants-have-feelings/antibiotic,pesticide, and herbicide free buzzwords, and of course one can't escape the "alt right/alt left, everything is alt" news today but this is a new one on me.
What, is "alt-ag"?

Ah yes.
You might want to consider posting those in the "Natural and Organic Husbandry" section, as that is why, after no little discussion between admin and those in favor and those in opposition (in part via PM) , it was implemented to begin with- rather than have those type discussions bandied about all over the board. It was agreed, that those in opposition would visibly stay out of that section and those in favor would try to present and confine their articles and advise/experiences within that section. Just a suggestion.

Oh.

Is there a section to praise God for our abundance and holy spirit guidance?

Thanks for heads up!
Unfortunately, the official stance of the board's admin is for members to refrain as much as possible from posting or linking to "religious and political topics".......if that is what you are asking.
