:welcomeAnother "WELCOME" from a fellow Virginian. I DO NOT have goats; and probably never will again (had a few "brush goats" and that was enough for me!!) as we run a cow/calf beef operation, have some white Texas Dall sheep, I have several jersey and guernsey and crosses, cows that I use as nurse cows, show chickens... and my son and I both work full time jobs.... I am however getting ready to retire due to major joint issues and possible/probable replacement surgeries down the road. I am in the Shenandoah valley area near I-81. :ya:ya

You are a BUSY lady!! Good luck with everything!!!

My husband and I never had “farm animals” until these goats... except a beef steer each year but my dad keeps it (we do not really have anywhere to keep cattle) and I had various animals growning up, lots of things lol! My grandparent and parents always had a variety of things! Good way to grow up.

Welcome to the addiction ... I mean board. Others are right, goats are addictive and we will aid you in that quest.

We have pygmy goats, two Nigerian dwarfs, chickens, and two hair sheep. (Not counting dogs, cats, and goldfish in this list)

IMHO, all kids should have the opportunity to grow up with animals. It makes them better adults.

And they teach our kids so much. My younger son is the goat whisperer. When we can’t tame down a goat, we call for him. My high anxiety kid who has had so many struggles in his life and no confidence, walks in like an expert and somehow can read that animal and knows what it needs instinctively.

That is awesome!! I hope he gets to use his talents throughout his life!
