Howdy all, I just joined up after reading a thread from a pig owner that had questions. I must say that everyone was so nice, and that is getting to be unusual. That made me want to join this group!
I have been out of sheep for 8 years and got a chance to jump back in so we did. My daughter is into weaving so we went with wool sheep this time and it feels so great to back. I LOVE sheep.

I love sheep to! What breed do you have? My wool sheep are Border Leister and Romanov cross. I love to knit with their wool but l have someone else spin it. I have meat sheep too.
Oooh. You must get some nice wool out of those. We have Rommeldale CVM sheep. We used to have Hog Island sheep but when we got the chance to get into these guys we jumped at it. I really like the personalities and their wool is quite nice. The first thing that I want to do with the wool is get a mill to make blankets for us. I have been dreaming of that for a long time and can see them wrapped up as Christmas presents in my mind’s eye. My daughter can make beautiful blankets but I don’t want to tie her up with that.

:frow Hi from North Carolina!
So great you get to enjoy sheep again!
I have quite a few friends in VA that raise rare breed sheep and do so much with their wool!
What breeds do you have?
Here’s to the land of the long leaf pine!! I lived in NC for 25 years, with both of my children being born there. We have Rommeldale CVM. They are a breed that Pendleton Woolen Mills used back in the day. I remember them from when they were called California Varigated Mutants, hence the CVM. People react weirdly to the word mutant, so they are not emphasizing it any more.

Well, welcome to both of you, :frow @Eusfulewe and :frow@Mamamaclaurin! It isn’t often (if ever) that I get to welcome two new members at the same time - i.e. hitting two birds with one stone.

Interesting .. . . You are both in Virginia.

I saw that you (@Mamamaclaurin) are wanting to move to Colorado. We have a member (@Latestarter) who moved to Texas from Colorado a couple years ago. You might want to talk to him, to see why he left there. Your wants, needs and desires may be different. However, it might be helpful to know Latestarter’s reasons for leaving.

My sweet DH and I moved to Texas four and a half years ago, to be close to our daughter, who moved to Dallas, with her husband. They left us in PA without family, so we followed them here. We aren’t crazy about city life, so we spent six months looking for a property where we could have animals and produce our own food. We now have five goats (with more on the way) and about 50 chickens and ducks, as well as two amazing Maremma LGDs (livestock guardian dogs). We now work harder, in our retirement years, than we ever did when we were working 9-to-5 jobs. :th But we wouldn’t have it any other way. :)

Greetings and welcome to BYH to both of you, from NE TX! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. You'll get to "meet" folks at the same time. There are quite a few active Sheeple here. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Oh, and we all love pics, so post them anytime you feel the need! Please make yourself at home! Hope you enjoy the site!
