Hi I’m new to all of this sheep stuff. Basically I have 2 concerns with my lamb

1. Lamb (FEMALE) is humping my male goat
My lamb is only 4-5 months old so I guess pretty young and my goat male is 1 month and 2 weeks. It never bothers my young goat. But it’s just kind of wierd Becuase I thought the male would be humping my female lamb. I bought her off a sketchy breeder and I don’t know her specific breed or much about her but is it normal for her to be humping ?

2. The same lamb 4-5 months old, she lately has had sort of. “Horns” growing off her head. They are just bumps right now kinda dark but if you touch them a sort of “ash” comes off it and it’s lighter kind of white. If you want photos just ask. But it’s really weird I know some female sheep do grow horns but I’m not even sure if they are horns. I don’t know her breed again but, the bumps where not there when we got her. (She was 2-3 months old) and she had absolutely nothing there.

3. Same lamb and I just thought of this one. She is shedding a lot like if you pet her you can grab ALOT of hair. Is that normal? I don’t really brush her but I’m just waiting on the brush to arrive. But is that normal

Females humping isnt all that odd when they are young, many animals do it.

Is the Ash possibly dead skin aka dandruff or something she could be rubbing her head against? Horned sheep are more common then polled and when sheep are horned the usual is male and female both having horns. Polled sheep will often have a bump where horns would be, this bump doesnt develop until older 4-6 months from what we have seen.

When you say hair do you mean wool? or does she have actual hair like a hair sheep? If she has hair breed in her she may be sh dding her wool because of temperature change. My two goats are currently shedding their winter hair and getting summer coats in. It's -2 here atm...but they are in a barn that stays mostly above freezing. If she has wool and is a wool breed she maybe lacking something in her diet. A lack in diet will make wool have weak spots and break of easily, like you can pull handfuls off. She may also have a high parasite load affecting her ability to convert her food.

Pictures always help. :D =D
