Can home late Thursday night in a rainstorm and there was a baby with the herd. Nice little bull. He was huddled up next to the fence. The run in is completely flooded, it was sleeting and about 11:30pm. We got some straw and a tarp and fashioned a lean to that momma and baby could get under for the night.

Today we were able to get out and get a calf hutch and haul more straw out to the top of the pasture where the ground isn’t flooded. Carried baby out of the island he was on and over to the new bed. Baby headed off back toward the lean to area.

Is he going to keep looking to go back to the lean to? He’s a stubborn little thing. Momma calls and calls to him and he just ignores.

Another new baby born today. This one is from a heifer. Mom isn't letting the baby suckle. I had another heifer do the same thing with her first calf. I don't have a chute and this mom is pretty wild. At what point should I intervene if I can?

***Nevermind - she let her suckle. Yay!!!
