i have a mini rex that gace birth last week. wasn't expecting it. i was able to get a cardboard box in there for a nest but it wasn't cutting it. 1 already got out and died. i built a real besting box today but could only make it 6 in. inside dimensions to fit in cage door. its 14 in long 9 in high in back and 5 in high in front. i put her in it before i put kits in. she fits but its not any extra room. i put kits in it. will she be able to feed them?
how small is too small?

That is way too narrow for her to feed her kits...it won't work.
Give her a new cardboard box or a plastic Tupperware container that's at least 8 inches wide.
