I have a 4 month old Barbados lamb that refuses to eat, drink, or stand on her own.

She is having regular bowel movements and peeing (hard pea-sized pellets, and slightly yellow urine).

I think she ate something in the pasture that didn't agree with her, and she bloated. I have been successful in getting the gas out.

I have been giving nutrient drench, and water via turkey baster, and she swallows on her own. I have also been dosing with ProBios because of the bloat. I have tried giving pellet soaked in water, but it just causes her to bloat any time I feed her.

She won't eat or drink on her own, wont stand, wont sit, wont even hold her head up. She does swallow on her own, and she can pull her head away from me when I feed her. She also can kick all 4 of her legs and waggle her tail, so she is not paralyzed.

I am committed to getting her back on her feet again. I am just running out of ideas. I have been giving water, and a small amount of both nutrient drench and runny water/pellet mash every few hours. I have been giving the ProBios 2 times a day (first thing in the morning and mid evening)

She is separated from the rest of my herd. I have checked all 4 legs and feet and no signs of anything wrong with the joints or toes.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have lambs, but if one of my goats was like that, I wouldn't give them any pellets (wet or dry) just water, hay and B12 orally 1x day, pPro Bio. E/O day and some clear electrolytes. ...and try to get a vet to come out...
Wishing you a good outcome with your lamb :fl

How do recommend getting it to eat hay?

I've called the local vet, hoping she can come out soon.

Just saw this post. What was outcome with vet? Have you tried B12 injectable? Possible Niacin deficiency? Any update on condition?
