As new goat owners, I need a few questions answered. Bought 1 Nubian mini(?), only 100 lb max. 3 1/2 yrs old, and her 2 doelings both female, 10 weeks old. Doelings still nursing and get unlimited timothy hay, unlimited browse, and approx. 2 cups of Dumore goat feed per day. Momma gets same but approx. 4-6 cups of goat feed per day. Will momma wean kids herself? Am I feeding enough goat feed per day to kids and momma? After weaning, do kids and momma still get goat feed or will hay and browse be enough?
All are in good health and thriving. Thanks for forum.

Is momma fat? Thin?

I would feel the mom, and see how she is doing.

This video is a bit long, and I think all Saanens, but it is well explained and will give you a good overview of figuring out how your doe is doing on the feed you are giving her.

If she is the weight you like.... then keep feeding her the same.... if not... adjust accordingly.

Are you going to milk the doe?

If she is going to continue to produce milk, she needs good feed. Usually some alfalfa or pellets for milk goats in milk.

If you are going to dry her up, as she dries up you can slowly reduce her feed. But.... that also depends on if you are breeding her this fall.

Minerals are very important, especially prior to breeding, and not too fat or too thin.

Sounds like the feed for the kids is about right... but again... are they bouncy, active, and not too fat or too thin?
