3 or 4 weeks ago I had several rabbits die. We thought it might be Coccidiosis, so we treated with Corid and the deaths stopped.

During that time, I had two litters of 1-2 week old kits. Neither the kits nor their mothers ever showed any signs of Coccidiosis but the does were treated anyways.

The kits are now almost 6 weeks old and not weaned yet. Today DH discovered one of the kits was dead. There was no apparent reason for the death.

Could this be some lingering Coccidiosis? Should we retreat with the Corid? I didn’t see anything on the dosage about how frequently you could retreat. Or maybe just wean and treat the kits, so does don’t get another dose?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It wouldn't hurt to treat them just to be in the safe side, but there are many reasons kits can die suddenly. I lost a 6 week old kit a few days ago because it was super hot.. He was at the bottom of the litter pecking order and his siblings wouldn't let him have a good turn at the water bottles. I just didn't catch it in time. :(

Thanks! We have weaned them and are treating them now.

The remaining kits all seem pretty healthy though, so maybe he died from the heat or something else. I just don’t want to take any chances after losing so many last month.

You made a good choice :)
It probably was something else that killed the kit but it's always better to be safe than sorry!
