Symphony (in OH) finally lambed this afternoon! Triplets, 2 girls and a boy.
I’m hoping to go pick them all up next weekend.
The front lawn got very tall and thick after all that rain and I thought it was a waste of good grass to mow it so I put the rams on it.
Better picture of the new guy.
We’re still waiting on my other new ewe in OH to lamb before I can go pick them up. She should go by the end of the week.
I’m off today and I finally got all the lambs tagged and vaccinated. I’m a little behind on CD&T for the older lambs, but I really hate...
The snapping turtles are out and Oskar is not happy about it.
2 different ones showed up in his field today. He hasn’t worked up the courage to actually kill them yet.
One of my new ewes that I haven’t picked up yet lambed last night. 2 boys, a gray katmoget and a moorit gulmoget. Girls would have been lovely, but I’m not upset about boys. I like to grow out at least 1 ram lamb every year and I’d actually have a good number of ewes I could breed one of them...
All the boys are naked.
Little Snap got them all locked up because he wouldn’t stay in the fence. He started off going out the front into a netting fence which was fine until he tried to go through the net back into the main pasture (presumably to get to the pond for a drink) and nearly...
Don’t forget to peel your sheeps!
I sheared 1/2 of the boys today. I did all the yearlings and Triton. I still have the big Border Leicester boys and the wethers.
These naughty nuggets have been wreaking havoc in the barn.

It’s gone down, but not enough...
My take on orf with 25 years of sheep experience……
For the sheep, it’s not usually a big deal in terms of their overall health. It’s a virus that will pass on its own. It CAN be a bigger issue if it’s on a ewes udder and she won’t let her lambs nurse or if a lamb gets a bad case and their mouth...
It’s still raining. 😕 We’re getting close to 12” of rain at this point. The water that was up to 32” at the gate this morning, is now close to 40” deep.
This picture is from the road looking across my front pasture towards my house.
You can barely see some of the fence posts.
I ended up...
We’re well over 9.5” of rain and it’s still raining. If you scroll up a few posts to the picture with the 2 red gates, the water is up to the next bar and is 32” deep.
There’s my boat.
I did wade in a pull it out and then took it for a spin. I don’t have oars, but in a pinch, a shovel...
It’s not as deep as February’s flood yet, but it’s getting close and we still have more rain in the forecast. We’ve gotten over 7” already.
I started lambing during the last flood and now I’ve finished (the official season with the ewes I bred anyways) during another flood.
Jura...
The flooding isn’t as bad as it was back in February, but it’s supposed to rain today, tomorrow, and Saturday so it’s going to get worse. So far my sister/BIL’s driveway is still drivable, but the water was creeping up.
The sinkhole by the back pond doubled (at least) over night. I’m worried...
