Anyone have any great sites for buying a grooming table? I'm looking for something that will fold up and has a little storage drawer/box for nail clippers and a couple combs. Even better... does anyone here make tables to sell?
Hopefully the breeding with my buck and younger doe will give me a "backup" buck to breed with my unwilling doe. She will, be ready to palpate next week, so keep your fingers crossed!
I found the rake too "aggressive" feeling and instead I use a metal dread comb. It looks just like a regular comb, but it is super thick sturdy metal and was sold at a beauty supply store and made for dreadlocks.
Yes it's dark.
No she won't lift.
She lives on a separate level and away from the buck.
I'll definitely use your advice when I try to breed her again next month. I would have never thought of the string thing. It's good to know my doe isn't the only ornery one around. Thanks!
I'm just glad she is the problem and not my buck. He bred with the younger doe just fine... Three times... In one day. Yay! My suborn doe would barely cooperate once.
I do always put the doe into the buck's cage... I just typed it in the wrong order.
I have also tried the "by hand breeding" approach, but the older/stubborn doe is so reluctant that the buck gets frustrated and eventually gives up. That was the only way the first breeding was accomplished, but...
I have a doe that refuses to breed with my buck and I can't figure out what her problem is. I was able to get one "successful" breeding with her last month, but since I was only able to get her to calm down for one breeding session, she didn't have a litter. I tried breeding her again this month...
Unfortunately, our feed store only carries one type/brand of rabbit pellets. "Farmers Best" brand has 16% protein and our rabbits have long soft (angora) coats. I'd love to be able to have access to a more specialized variety of feeds, but it's just a mom & pop shop and there aren't many rabbit...
Thanks for the response. I wouldn't have guessed chinchilla. I thought it was such a cute color on an English angora picture I saw online, but it's not a show able color (as far as I know) in angora breeds.
I just added a page tonight with the same tutorial on building the rabbit cage rack here on my BYH profile/pages thing.

I couldn't tell you right now... It's my mom's laptop that I borrowed to finish the breed page and upload pictures. I only have an iPad and it won't work with the image uploader. I would have to guess it is not the most recent.
I don't know if it's because I'm using a Mac or what, but when I am editing a page I am creating, the "insert/edit image" button does not work. I've used this feature just fine on the BYC pages, but for some reason when I click on it... nothing happens. Is it just me or is it not working right...
Of course a metal or wooden rack would be more stable... I could have certainly made this more stable by adding another PVC bar parallel to the metal angles towards the bottom. I can still do that, luckily, since it does have a little wobble in one direction. The racks are plenty stable holding...
I have them in an 8'x8' shed we built. I can't have them just in a hutch or covered cages because we have so many stray dogs, cats, raccoons, foxes, and mountain lions around here.
I just built my own cage racks that hold 3 cages each -stacked vertically. I made them out of PVC pipe and metal angle to hold the dropping pans in one afternoon. Unfortunately I can't post a picture of them from my iPad onto the forum.
If you're interested in seeing my tutorial on how to make...
