We always "try again" a few days after the first breeding. And usually the females will refuse them. And we always have nest boxes made up and ready to go.

We are trying something new - well new for us. We are trying to put male duck in with female ducks and then take him out after a bit. Does anyone know how long the semen will be viable within the female duck? I've tried a google search and don't get anywhere. Thought I'd come to the experts.
