P-Ewe is from the periodic table series of lambs (it took a few years to get through). Her name was originally Plutonium (PU), but it got modified to P-Ewe for fun and it stuck.
Freyja is 13. She was one of my first lambs after I got Shetlands and she’s been very special to me from the moment...
Symphony, due 3/14. I got this ewe at the same time as Linen. I love her a lot. She had triplets last year, she’s looking big again this year.
P-Ewe, due 3/28. She has been huge like this and had triplets. She’s also been huge like this and had a single.

My sweet old...
Fiona, due 3/6. Her udder has blown up since yesterday. She’s acting a little suspicious this evening so we may see lambs tonight or tomorrow.
Sally, also due 3/6. She’s very pink 🤣.
Linen, due 3/7. I’ve never lambed her (I bought her heavily bred last year and the breeder didn’t want her...
I’m going to need to keep an eye on Eugenie. I had her down as marked once by Bruno (Border Leicester) and then again later to Snap (Shetland, clean up ram). Her due date based on when she was marked by Snap is 3/28, but that backend is saying she may have actually settled to the original ram...
I used a Lister Star clipper with the coarse clipping blades from Premier1 for a long time. They worked ok, but were very slow. I use an actual shearing machine now since I have a lot more sheep to get through every year.
Dog clippers might work, but it will take forever, it may ruin the...
Twist thinks it’s time to buy a truck.
I’m actually working towards buying a truck this year. I don’t need anything huge and was considering a F150, but Ford also makes the Maverick which is smaller and cheaper than the F150. It can’t tow as much, but it can tow what I need.
Barn cat pretzel...
Oona gave me a pretty moorit katmoget girl this evening. I was *really* hoping for spots, but I’ll forgive her since her baby is so pretty.
This finally answers the question about what pattern Oona is. Her mom, Fiona, is a double pattern gulmoget/katmoget so Oona has to be one of the two, but...
I booted both of them out of the small pen today because he won’t stop harassing the other ewes and Mallie is one of those moms that says “my child can do no wrong, what did YOU do to HIM!” 🤦🏼♀️
Please enjoy 2+ minutes of Newton being an absolute terror last night! (The link takes you to a video on Flickr)
Little Terror Newton
Hopefully the link works properly.
The outrage of a Border Collie who’s human has put on their Outside Pants and then shut him into the bedroom instead of going out to the barn.
His name is Newton and he’s already begging for scratches.
The niece and I got a pen set up for all the ewes due next week. We also moved Mallie...
The cute little turd spent over an hour sleeping like he was dead yesterday.
The next ewe due is Oona. She’s due next Wednesday. There’s 3 ewes due 2-3 days after that.
Where are you in KY? I moved to the Elizabethtown area at the end of 2019 from VT. I moved the remnants of the Border Leicester flock my family started in 2000 down here with me along with the Shetlands I started to acquire around 2011. I’ve since cut back on the Border Leicesters and expanded...
Mallie lambed this morning. 8lb single black ram lamb with some white spots on his head.
I woke up at 3-something and checked the cameras. Nothing going on. Woke up again just before 6 and she was pushing. She popped him out at 0605 just before I walked into the barn. All I had to do was weigh...
It’s not as big as it looks, but it is a huge step up from what I grew up raising sheep in so I’ll take it.
A lot of the wool was trashed. They are rough on their fleeces during the winter. Most of the sheep get sheared twice a year so the summer fleece is the better one. I kept back the good...
