Woke up to a beautiful little doeling :)

My son was requesting a cot so he could spend more time with them! I think we'll be just fine. We are with our goats several times a day and my kiddos spend so much time there too. With our momma goat, she gets so excited when I come out to be with her...wants petted and keeps being vocal (in...

I think that's going to be the plan , to milk 2x a day and just let her raise the baby herself-- thanks for the advice :)!!

Woke up to a beautiful little doeling :)

I've been told she won't be "tame" if we don't bottle feed....is that true?? I want her to be tame/sweet/etc.. but I also want what's best for her....I've been trying w/o success to get her to drink from a bottle...not sure how to "make her"??? This is our first kidding... I'm still a little...

Woke up to a beautiful little doeling :)

So surprised this morning by my Lamancha. She decided to kid early and after staying with her until the wee hours of the morning, she kidded as soon as I went in to rest! We've got a beautiful little doe, who momma is taking care well, BUT I have a milking question. Since we only had one kid...

2yr old LaMancha goat milking and "in heat" questions :)

I feel like a pervert looking at her behind all the time trying to figure things out!! I guess she went into heat last year this time soooo she should be any day now I would think??? The buck we have lined up for her is a 40 minute ride in the mini van away, so I hate to drive her all the way...

2yr old LaMancha goat milking and "in heat" questions :)

Thanks..I'd wondered about the whole "in heat" thing.... She doesn't have any other signs (obvious signs that is) - would she??? I've been scanning obscene pictures of goat behinds to make sure I have a picture of what I should be seeing... I haven't seen any "behavior" changes though either...

2yr old LaMancha goat milking and "in heat" questions :)

Hi :)! Our 2yr old LaMancha is our first milker and she's been wonderful letting me "learn" on her..I've gotten faster over the last few months too so I'm sure she appreciates that as well. I've notived lately that her milk production is dropping by like a whole cup. She was giving a full...

Getting our new goats to sleep in the barn??

I'm not sure this is a problem or not, but short of sleeping with them in our barn, I'm not sure how to get our new goats to sleep in their stalls?? They've only been home today, and my kids (of the two legged variety) hung out with them in their pasture/barn area for a good part of the day...

New to goats, they are coming in a week...last minute question :)!

Hello :) - We're getting new little Alpine Dairy goats here in a few weeks, and I have been stalking the message boards here to absorb as much information as I possibly can before I get my girls :). I read on a post (should have written it down when I saw it!) that someone recommended a catalog...
