While thinking about the ACV and giving it to my heifer, I thought of something. I know that I have to watch the diet of my cows, so as not to mess up their rumen. I have read alot on ACV and it's many health benefits for both human and animal, but am worried about it messing up Daisy's rumen...

ACV + heifer/cow = better chances for heifer calf???

Thanks Beekissed. Some very interesting information. From what I have gathered about ACV, then it is healthy for the body, so it would not hurt to use it, whether it works to increase the chances of a "girl" baby or not. I may try this and see what the results will be. Dorothy

ACV + heifer/cow = better chances for heifer calf???

Thanks FarmerChick. It seems that ACV = more heifers is not true, but wanted to check and see if anyone has experience with it. Guess that when the time comes to breed my heifer, then I will just get whatever gender I get...lol I will be happy, no matter what, but would prefer a heifer. I...

ACV + heifer/cow = better chances for heifer calf???

Hi all. It seems that I remember reading that if you give a heifer/cow ACV before breeding her, then your chances of getting a heifer calf were greater. Has anyone ever done this and does it really work? I have search for this topic, but have been unable to find any information about it. If...

One of my pens is really muddy and I want to make sure that it is alright for me to put sawdust, wood shavings and Cypress mulch in there to dry it up some. Do you all think that this is a good idea? My DH is worried that the sawdust will make matters worse. I can get all of the sawdust that...

    Weight tapes for cows

I will try to get the pics. on here tomorrow. So, do all of you think that approx. 224 lbs. is a good weight for a approx. 9 wk old bull calf? If he is indeed at that weight or close to it, then he is almost half the weight that my last bull that my sister raised for us, when he was 1 yr. 8...

    Losing hair around eyes???

I hadn't thought about him rubbing on the fence. I have noticed him rubbing/scratching his snout/nose on the fence before. It just has me puzzled as to why it is just around his eyes and nowhere else. Maybe because they stick out....lol I have looked him over and all that I see in other...

Thanks Farmer Kitty. I did notice this morning that his sides were more filled out, after he gets done eating. When it is getting close to his second feeding, then his sides are indented quite a bit.
