Omg! I am shaking and need advice!

The bite pressure thing is grossly inaccurate, but I digress. NO peroxide. Peroxide kills healthy tissue and good bacteria. Water only is best. Dogs of ALL breeds can be very prey driven. It is absolutely the owner's fault for not having it contained. With that said, it doesn't seem like the...

    Meningeal Worm Recovery Time?

This is what I figured. I hope it is not permanent. If it is, though, she's definitely not letting it stop her. She's a no-nonsense camelid!

    Meningeal Worm Recovery Time?

Recently had meningeal worm here in a female alpaca. I caught it just as she started becoming wobbly in her back. Started treating the next day and finished her treatment 2 days ago. In that time, she has definitely not gotten any worse. She went from normal to very unsteady in 2 days, so I'm...

    Keeping Hens with Goats?

They'll be fine. It'll give them a jolt and they'll go about their business.

    Day 173 and NOTHING

Based on the photo of her body condition, she did just look chunky all around. She didn't have the "waistline" that a pregnant goat has. They usually have the reverse hourglass....thin-BIG-thin. I think your girl just looked big all around. At least now you can stop worrying and driving...

    Should I give them anything?

Are you sure they are CAE, CL and Jonnies negative? By bringing in shelter/sale barn goats, you could be opening up a can of worms and potentially harm your whole herd.

    I am ready....

Yikes!! I'd definitely not be able to afford goats with those hay prices! I hated to pay $5 a bale for timothy/orchard mix with delivery! Hopefully once summer comes the price will drop.

Day 138 and showing signs of labor

:( I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't think it was anything that you did or anything you could have done. Sometimes nature just pulls a fast one and socks us in the face. :(

    Banding & Debudding

I can't speak as much for banding time, but I do know that you should wait a few months so that their urethra has the chance to grow to prevent UC. As far as the disbudding, that is waaaaaay off. Disbudding should be done no later than a few days or when you feel the horn buds and the hair...

    unwanted pregnancy

Since she's an older doe, I think it could be fatty deposits in her udder. Everyone else is right, 2.5 weeks is not nearly long enough for her to start building an udder.

Fred's Kidding Thread *Update: Graphic Kidding Pictures!

I had missed all my other kiddings here and I was determined NOT to miss Fred's! I was so glad to see it all, but even more glad that Fred didn't need any help and that the babies were so healthy. My biggest fear is going out to see a dead kid or dead doe all because I wasn't there to help.

When to let Mom and Babies out with the other goats.....

You can also do little "test runs". When it's a nice day (not today or tomorrow because the weather sucks) put them out under supervision. See what happens. Usually by day 4-5 I let them out full time. Fred's kids may be sooner because they're larger and much more precocious than some of the...
