    Not Convinced She's Pregnant

Same issue OP! My two does currently in milk were bred in May, so I was planning to discontinue milking them at the end of this month. Well, they both had bloody discharge for 2 days, so they may have miscarried. If that's the case, I don't want to give up the milk for nothing. Anyone have...

Lame Sheep, Where Do I Start

Thanks Roving, but she died this morning. Her hooves and legs looked fine, and she was eating and drinking. She would try to use her front legs to stand, but her back legs weren't working. I thought it might have been white muscle disease, but she died before we got to the store. If it is white...

Lame Sheep, Where Do I Start

Oh, and even unshorn, I can see her hip bones! All the other sheep look healthy.

Lame Sheep, Where Do I Start

I have an ~4 year old Jacob ewe who went lame yesterday. The day before she wasn't loking good, laying down a lot, and I noticed her stumble over nothing. Yesterday and today she is not able to stand. Her poop looks normal. What are the next things I need to look for to figure out what is going...

    Goat Menstration

And why both at the same time?!

    Goat Menstration

Awe man! What could have caused that? They are taken care of, the bucks haven't been messing with them or anything.

    Goat Menstration

So two of my Nigerian's have had blood on their tails and vulvas for two days. I thought they were bred at the end of May. How often should this happen? The bucks haven't been responding at all, which is why I'm not sure. Could this be something else?

    Lamb Near Death

Thank you for your responces. We are still so hurt, trying to figure out what we could have done differently. He was DH's baby. And like SheepShape said, we put the most effort into him. So sad.

    Lamb Near Death

Thanks for the support, but he didn't make it through the night. What does this look like? His stomach is quite big, but he has always had a fat looking stomach.

    Lamb Near Death

No snotty nose, no foam. We wormed him judt in case. He's only been on bermuda hay for the past week and a half, so no chance he ate something strange. The hay did get wet the other day, but it isn't moldy. It smells great actually. DH thinks it may be a head injury because his eyes are falling...

    Lamb Near Death

I have a 4 month old, 4-horned, Jacob Sheep ram lamb that is near death. He can't stand and his eyes look bugged out. This morning he was acting strangely, and stayed standing still in the corner when i fed the sheep this morning. I petted him and went about my chores. He is missing one of his...

    One Teat Not Refilling

But we did milk that side! The day after we sold her kid we milked both sides.

    One Teat Not Refilling

I have an 11 month old Nigeeian Dwarf who had her first freshening in March. The kid only nursed from her right teat, as he had trouble latching on to her left teat because there isca bump on it. We started milking her left teat because it was really full and the kid nursed the right side. Two...

How Much to Sell My Calf For

We are selling our 5 month Holstein heifer. She is super sweet, socialized with sheep, goats, and children, and is halter trained. How much is fair to sell her for? What avenues of sale are there besides craigslist and the sale barn (which is not our preference).

    Raising a cow with sheep

My cow lives with 10 sheep. The ram beat her up for a few days, but now they are buddies and often graze together.

    Calf Having a Seizure?

I have a 12 week old bottle calf who appears to be having a seizure. She starts striking out backwards with her back legs, stands aloof, then lays down, and sometimes kicks her legs. We weaned her a few days ago. She is on pasture and hay, and yesterday we introduced purina cattle pellets. We...

Lamb Trying to Find the Teet

We finally found a nipple with the right flow, so he is doing much better. He is energetic, but not as much as the other lambs. He doesn't play with the other lambs though and is very attached to DH, which distresses his mother.

Lamb Trying to Find the Teet

I don't think it is mastitis. We removed the black plugs with a toothpick, but still nothing when we try to milk her. The redness has gone down, and they aren't so hot to the touch.
