For people joining me down the rabbit hole...
Coffee is brewing. I took the day off so I could do farm stuff in daylight. I need to finish tidying up the isolation corral. I also want to make a new transfer crate that fits my trailer better. It will have a sheet of coroplast as a wind break and roof, fancy!
I am still falling down the rabbit hole of genetics on sheep. I can not get my head wrapped around the whole Black or Brown only thing. All the many, many articles I've read state Black is dominant to Brown and imply you will not get both colors on a sheep.
Sound okay when I look at Dash. She's...
First cup of coffee and I found another rabbit hole to fall down. Sheep color genetics are interesting.. @Baymule https://www.colouredsheep.org.nz/2021/11/22/genetics-how-do-we-get-coloured-sheep/ https://cpb-us-e1.wpmucdn.com/blogs.cornell.edu/dist/5/6103/files/2020/02/sheep-color-genetics.pdf...

My mud boots are Joules brand off of Amazon. They are a year plus and holding up well. The issue is the dang locust thorns. I located the hole with thorn still stuck in it.
Up in Iowa, I had stretchy cleats that went over my work boots. I may buy a new pair to be prepared for this winter.
A planning tip, search county name or town name plus "GIS server". That will get you the official map of your area where you can turn on layers like parcel borders, elevations, flood zones depending on how it's set up. You can see examples on my ranch journal.
Sketch out your master plan and then figure out how to implement in stages. Money doesn't grown on trees unfortunately.
For example Phase 1 was new driveway and utilities to house for ~$25k. I've spent past year without electric at shed and using 350ft of hose to water sheep. I'm starting Phase...
The driveway has decided it comes first, thank you very much. First tow of the season out of our own drive with more to come. The moment tires went off gravel he started drifting.
The littles and I are sick and staying home. Husband and eldest went to visit husband's dad and grandma. I am a...
