I was told that Belgian mares will usually reproduce until they are about 25. Does that sound accurate? I was also told that if they are not bred every year when they are older, they will not want to breed again. Is that true? If so, how often is it safe not to breed them, if you still want...
I thought this might interest people. I know there are other ways to do it but I thought I would share my way.
First I whack them in the neck. I usually have someone hold the back legs. If I am doing it myself I find it easier to put their back legs in the ropes. We have a board mounted...
I am having some trouble with ours. We have taken it to an Aumish man several times but we are still having difficulty. For some reason when it cuts the grass instead of letting it fall down it caries it on the bar. This makes it almost impossible to mow.
Thanks!
One of our little black bunnies had a swelled up front paw the other day. I checked, but could see no injury. It did not seem to bother him to bad so I left it alone. This morning I go out and his other front paw is all swollen up. He still gets around but I am worried. He is about four...
I am selling Easter bunnies to the Orschelns stores in our area. I have some extras. If anyone is local I sell them for $8.00 They are mixed breeds in the medium class. I use them for meat the rest of the year.
Here are a few pictures.
If you have any more questions you can pm me.
I usually do mine at 5-6 weeks. I was wondering if you can do it any earlier. With Easter getting close, I would like to wean them as soon as possible. Thank you for your help.
I am reading her book Natural Goat Care. I have found it absolutely fascinating! What got me interested was a friend who raises her goats that way. She has not wormed her goats for years, because she feeds them the Copper and the dolomite. I wondered if anyone else had tried this and how it...
I am so excited. I had 51 baby rabbits on the place recently. Now I have 47 because I sold a few. I just wanted to show everyone because I am so excited. I have had rabbits for years, but never had this many at once.
Here are some pictures of them.
And here are a couple proud...
I was wondering if there would be any interest in doing a B.Y.H. trivia contest, like the ones on B.Y.C. You can see one here. http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=175059
I thought it might be fun. If there was enough interest we could do one every month. I could host this...
I really like this Goat cheese. You heat your milk to 185 degrees. Than add a Tablespoon of Vinegar per quart of milk. Sometimes it takes a little more or a little less. The milk curdles almost instantly. It is really neat to see. Then you drain it through cheesecloth. You can eat it...
I have seen small threads on the topic frequently. I have long had an interest in the subject. I decided to write a full account of what I have learned. I am by no means an expert yet, and have a lot of learning still to do before I can give a lot of help to others. I will update it as I...

Thought I should let you know. I got it trying to access Llamas and Alpacas breeds and breeding. It came up fine the second time.
I need a Black Runner hen. I also need a Muscovy drake. I would really like A Chocolate or Buff, but will consider any color. Please let me know if you have one somewhere close to Braymer Missouri!
Thanks.
I need a buck rabbit. No New Zealand Whites, or Californians. If you have one somewhere close to Braymer, Mo. please let me know. Mutts are fine, show quality is not important.
Thanks!
We raise Katahdin and Barbados sheep. A friend had two ewes. When I first saw them I said they were Barbados. Later he gave them to me. They had both grown horns since I had seen them. Our Barbados ewes do not have horns. They are also lighter colored that our Barbados ewes. They are a...
