    Honey is gone :(

My katahdin sheep, Honey, is gone. She died this morning, but I don't know why. Is it possible that we waited too long to worm her? Her friend, Belle is heartbroken.

    Wish me luck!

I'm taking some of my buns to mountain top in the am. Hopefully I'll be able to sell a few. NZW going to try to sell for 15.00 each. I think that's a pretty fair price! Also taking some rabbit's feet to sell, 2.00 each. The money will go for my new to me hunting rifle.

    Yogurt?

Is yogurt good for rabbits? It has lots of benefits for other animals, so I wondered about rabbits.

    Gray kindled today

I put a nest box in for her, but she had the babies on the wire. I got out there in time to save one of the kits. I put it in the box with as much of the fur as I could gather up. She hopped into the box with the baby and seems to be okay now. The others didn't make it.

    questions

Seems like all I do is ask questions anymore! Here goes : 1. What are shorts? 2. We caught a wild hog, will it grow out like a regular one? 3. What are the best feeds for it? 4. If it's a female, is it worthwhile to breed it? 5. It's quite young, will it get tamer, or will it retain it's...

    my young rabbits fell

Their cage tipped over and fell about three feet. There were seven in the cage, four died for sure, and one may die. :( the other two seem to be okay. Also one of my breeder does must have gotten too hot, the sun shade I had on her blew away, when I got to her it was too late. :( she was due to...

    I caught a pig!

I was at my friend's house today. Her dogs started making a fuss. We followed them into the woods and found they had a wild hog at bay! We caught it and brought it back. It's a young one, only about 60lbs,but we're going to raise it and split it. It's solid black. Pretty good for free!

Do any of y'all, my good rabbit buddies, have a really good, easy recipe for rabbit? If you do, will you share it? Thanks! Also I'm wanting to tan the furs, but have never done so. Does anyone know how? Can you tell me step by step? And where is a good place to get those metal thingys that go...

    Bees Bothering Bunnys?

I haven't seen anything like this posted. I have a bee hive. It is some distance from the rabbit pens, and there is a garden between. But when I go out to feed and water the buns, there is a bunch of bees buzzing around them. And it's not all of them, but the two does on the end. Has anyone...

    Happy Acres Kindling Watch

I put O'Hara on Bridey and Barley, April 28. O'Hara did the kick and fall over twice. Put the girls back in today, just to check, and they wanted nothing to do with him. I put Queenie in with Bucky on April 28,but she wasn't interested. I put her in today, and she lifted for Bucky. He mounted...

    when to think about breeding

I have two katahdin lambs who are about five months old now. I'm thinking of breeding them (they're both ewes) in October or maybe first part of November. When would that put their lambs due? And is that too young for them to be bred?

    My First Rabbit Meal

It was delicious! I slow cooked it in the crockpot, with only butter on it. No liquid, no spices. It came out tender, and very good, falling off the bone. I paired it with mashed potatoes, country gravy, and canned cabbage. Oof! I'm stuffed! Since this was my very first time cooking rabbit, I...

    processing day aproaches

Tomorrow I will be processing 6 twelve weekers. I'm a bit (read heck of a lot) apprehensive about it. This will be my first time. Does anyone have any advice to make it go smoother? Or ways to steel my nerve? I've done chickens before. How do they compare? A friend has offered to shoot them for...

    my doe kindeled, no survivors

And it's all my fault! :( She's a proven mother, I knew she was getting ready, but I didn't put a nesting box in, thinking I had more time. I went out today to find nine little pink corpses laying on the wire, some squished through the wire, and one underneath. :( Poor Barley! Will she be...

Since these are my first meaties, I have some questions : 1. What do y'all use for nest boxes, and how are they constructed? 2. Do they need vegetables in addition to the pellets? 3. If so, what kind and how much? 4. They are currently in wire cages, do I need to put cardboard in there (so they...
