    Harliquinized Castor

Thanks, I'm thinking he's out as far as castor breeding, so I'm more wondering if he can be used for harliquin/tricolor or if this is just one of those things where he's better off with a home that doesn't care about the color of their rabbits. His coat has some huge flaws for castor, and I'm...

    Harliquinized Castor

So I have what I believe is a harliquinized castor, but it's very possible he's something else. I was wanting to breed harliquin/tricolor Rex and Castor Rex separately from each other because they're my favorite colors. I ended up with a very nice harliquin doe and what I think is a...

I lost a wonderful doe but don't know why

I'm looking for some advice or feedback, please. I lost a sweet wonderful doe last night. She was about 8 months old, in great body/coat condition with no signs of any illness. The only changes have been the weather (cold and wind) and moving her neighbor to a new cage because she was pulling...

    Sick pregnant goat

Called the vet and she suggested cutting way back on the grain, introducing something like goat balancer in the grain, and offering alfalfa/grass pellets in case the hay isn't that great and to keep weight on her. Some kind of hoof pellet made for horses was mentioned too, if she's not improving.

    Sick pregnant goat

Free choice unlimited grass mix hay, I couldn't get any decent or feed able alfalfa this year, hence the alfalfa pellets.

    Sick pregnant goat

I just trimmed her hooves about a month ago she does have bad hooves since they were likely never trimmed at her old home, but the front ones have looked alright. The dewormer did work although it took 2 different dewormers to clear up the issue, the first one isn't very effective in our area...

    Sick pregnant goat

I have a rescue goat that is having a hard time, it started once the cold weather hit here, 1-2 weeks. She seems to improve when it warms up and get worse when its colder, but it might just seem that way or be aggravated by the weather. She's very pregnant due anywhere from the end of Jan to end...

How bad is pig feed for goats?

I'm very careful about making sure my goats only eat goat feed, but lately they are being impossible! They are determined to eat pig feed! scaling walls to get in the pig stalls, picking "locks" to get at the feed in the storage room, sneaking it out of the scoop on the the way to the pig dish...

    Best fiber/ filler food

So I know there are mixed opinions about adding fiber to pigs diets. I've decided to add some fiber or at least bulk food this winter since they will be on pasture come spring summer and fall. What would be the best to add? beet pulp, grass pellets, sunflower seeds, sweet feed something else? I...

    Potbelly mix for meat

I really hope someone can share their experience I'm feeding 2 mini pigs and they are turning out to be eating machines, and they think they are always hungry now that the pasture is gone :( I'd hate to keep them both all winter if they are going to be of zero use in my breeding program.

    Potbelly mix for meat

I'm hoping a new thread might get some interest. I have a mini pig boar and I want to breed him to my sow who is a black English hog, to create a small pasture pig. Black English hogs have exceptionally flavored meat but mini pigs...? according to my research potbelly and such have fairly decent...

    Pot belly crosses?

Can I ask what you didn't like about the cross? Was it the taste, the amount of meat, the grow out, the temperament of the cross? something else? I had planned to do this too since it would cut way down on cost to keep an 80lb boar vs an 800lb boar. But if I don't want to raise a batch of swill...

AI Breeding and registering future AI kids with the ADGA

I took a long course on it. And its a pain, keeping the tank filled, the shipping, the drugs to get the does in heat at the right time, the actual AI, but if you had to buy and feed and care for each buck you end up using a straw of it probably evens out especially if you keep a good chunk of...

AI Breeding and registering future AI kids with the ADGA

I have bought all the equipment for AI and (ouch my wallet) so my next question is regarding ordering straws and recording and registering future kids with the American Dairy Goat Association. Is there anyone who has been doing this awhile that can share their knowledge. With the cost of...

Potbelly with hernia? Or something else?

I bought a few potbelly piglets about a month ago. Two are fine, growing like weeds and eating like pigs. But my little female doesn't seem to be getting any bigger and is a little on the thin side now. She doesn't eat fast but is interested in food. I'll try not to be vulgar but I don't know...

    Mini Scottish Highland cattle

I'm looking for info on mini Scottish highland cattle. The herd I plan to buy a calf from is mini highland and low % Dexter. I like the looks and many aspects of the Highlands but I'm looking for a true dual purpose mini breed. Steers worth raising and cows worth taking the time to milk. I know...

    Goat match making 101

They are still growing out, but I'm going to breed them together one day. Do you think I'd get some nice dairy goats from this cross, they both have the milking lineage but I'm trying to improve the body structure in my herd. Buckling: Sable Polled (black and white) Doeling: Saanen (white)

    On track?

Bought my goat back and she wasn't in the best shape here's a few photos shortly after I got her back and a few more recent photos of her and her doe kid. I know she has a long way to go still but I wondered if she seems to be on track weight gain wise. Its been a few months now. Besides trying...

I just bought my first lambs they were supposed to be all be female, but one looks different somehow, its eyes are very intense or something? and its a little smaller even though they are all the same age. They are Icelandic x Shetland mix high Icelandic though. I'm wondering if this one is a...
