It was a lot of pee. It wasn't draining at all so we were trying to just soak it up with pine shavings. (the really fine kind) The farrier is not sure what it is. As far as I know his kidneys are fine. They just said his hoof wall was weak so we've been putting hoof hardener on his hooves and...
A horse had been in his stall half the day and the other half he would be out in the field. He would pee so much that he would end up standing in his pee. After a couple months, he started head bobbing and limping. Not too bad though. Do you think it is possible that his pee corroded his hoof...
We have two horses. One of them got hurt from the other horse. They were seperated so that she could heal. Now it's been almost 3 weeks and they've been in paddocks up next to each other but haven't interacted. Is there anything I can do to help them get along and be calm or do I just let them...
I heard that you can use coconut oil for cracked horse hooves. Is that true? If so, how would you use it?
Here's the link: http://www.savvyhorsewoman.com/2013/06/coconut-oil-for-horses-top-10-uses.html?m=0
what do you think?
Thanks :)
What's the difference between Nutrena Pro-Force fiber and the Nutrena pro-force senior? How will the change in grain change my horses' behavior? They were on the fiber, but then I had to switch over to the senior because that was all we could get for a week. I was just wondering if it would make...
I have a Western Pleasure Quater Horse and today I noticed that parts of his mane is coming out and the skin underneath looks dead/dry. Why is this happening? Is there a way I could fix it? Thanks.
I've heard that mucking out your paddocks is good for your horses. Is that true? If so, how often would it be needed? We have 7 acres of field space that our two horses are in about 10 hours a day.
I am considering buying an indoor pet bunny/rabbit. Do you have any thoughts/ideas/advice/tips for me? I have quite a few questions: Where's the best place to buy a sweet bunny? What's the best, cutest, friendliest breed? Do they smell? How hard would it be to keep it inside? How often would I...
Whenever I trailer my horse to a new place and when I bring her out of the trailer she gets super worked up, running over me, having her head stuck up really high, and really nervous, when she is usually a super relaxed, awesome horse. I do ground work with her a lot, which has made it better...
I've heard of peppermints and sugar cubes but I don't know if they're bad for them or not. What's the cheapest, healthiest treat I could give my horse to reward her?
My Dad's horse has been wheezing off and on for the past couple of months. I can't hear it all of the time, but I mostly hear it after he has been running or if he's eating his grain. I don't think his hay is dusty and his stall isn't too bad. I don't know if it's something to worry about or...
How do I keep our two horses from getting too attached? Is it just inevitable? We aren't able to buy another horse. I don't want them to get mad if we separate them.
Irish sport horse is my favorite. Strong, fast, smart, spirited, obedient, beautiful, and just plain super sweet. They are very well rounded, also. dressage, jumping, trail riding, family horse, etc.
You really can't do anything to make him go in the barn or to teach him. Horses don't mind the rain or storms and it's really not that dangerous. I wouldn't worry about it. My horse never goes in the run-in barn during storms either. Some horses don't like the rain, so they'll go in the barn...
I would start doing lots of ground work with her in a round pen. Working to gain her respect. Ground work solves a number of issues in riding and handling. Teaching her that she can't push/boss you around. Just a thought.
